Publication number: 20250119746Abstract: Global mobile communication event identifiers (IDs) improve security by enabling early detection of cybersecurity events in cellular networks. The event IDs are each unique to a category of mobile communication events and consistent across the network functions (NF), even from different vendors. NFs assign event IDs to mobile communication events, which are reported to a cybersecurity operations center. The cybersecurity operations center has visibility into network-wide events and is thus able to match occurrences of event IDs with categorized attacks, when an attack is occurring. This enables rapid, intelligent selection of a defensive response.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2023Publication date: April 10, 2025Inventors: Geoffrey Todd Gibson, Marouane Balmakhtar

Patent number: 12120518Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting false base stations are provided. A computing device transmits a request for a verification message to a base station. An encrypted verification message comprising a base station identifier and a signature encrypted using an encryption key associated with the base station is received by the computing device. The computing device decrypts the signature included in the encrypted verification message utilizing a decryption key associated with the computer system. Based on the decrypted signature, the computing device determines that the encryption key does not correspond to the decryption key. Based on determining that the encryption key does not correspond to the decryption key, the computing device stores the base station identifier in a data store in association with a false base station indicator.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2021Date of Patent: October 15, 2024Assignee: T-MOBILE INNOVATIONS LLCInventors: Gregory Schumacher, Marouane Balmakhtar, Geoffrey Todd Gibson

Patent number: 11751055Abstract: Integrity protection is used to assist in ensuring the secure transmission of wireless data within a cellular network. Instead of performing integrity protection on each packet data unit (PDU) transmitted/received within a PDU session, integrity protection is performed on a portion of PDUs transmitted within a cellular network. For instance, partial integrity protection may be performed on at least one predetermined PDU (e.g., the first, second, fourth, . . . ) that is transmitted via a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH)/Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) during a communication session. By performing partial integrity protection, user data may be transmitted more quickly throughout the cellular network, compared to performing full integrity protection, while still providing integrity protection.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2020Date of Patent: September 5, 2023Assignee: T-Mobile USA, Inc.Inventors: John J. Humbert, Wafik Abdel Shahid, Joshua Finger, Geoffrey Todd Gibson, Jean Cheryl Trakinat, Ming Shan Kwok, Boris Antsev

Publication number: 20230220932Abstract: A multi-cable transit may include a plurality of modules disposed within the frame assembly; each of the plurality of modules comprising: an upper housing, a lower housing disposed opposite the upper housing; and a plurality of upper layers and a plurality of lower layers disposed between the upper housing and the lower housing; and a compression wedge unit connected between the frame assembly and the plurality of modules, wherein expansion of the compression wedge unit compresses the plurality of modules within the frame assembly to form a gas-tight seal within the plurality of modules. A single cable transit may include a pair of component halves, each of the pair of component halves comprising: a u-shaped body having a curved outer surface and contoured inner surface; a plurality of interlocking layers; and a compression member configured to axially compress the u-shaped body.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2023Publication date: July 13, 2023Applicant: CAPE Industries, LLCInventors: Allen Todd GIBSON, Solomon Otto WHITAKER, Melissa A. Publication number: 20230171680Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a Network Exposure Function (NEF) slice to User Equipment (UE). An Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) selects a NEF slice for the UE. A Session Management Function (SMF) selects a NEF address for the NEF slice for the UE. A User Plane Function (UPF) exchanges Application Programming Interface (API) calls and responses between the UE and a NEF based on the NEF address. The NEF exchanges the API messages with the UE over the UPF. The NEF slice may comprise an edge NEF slice that is selected based on the geographic location of the UE and that features a local NEF element that is coupled to a core NEF element.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2021Publication date: June 1, 2023Inventors: Marouane Balmakhtar, Gregory David Schumacher, Geoffrey Todd Gibson

Patent number: 10165700Abstract: An assembly including a host device and an add-on module, in which the host device and the add-on module include features to provide a rugged electro-mechanical interface or connection between the host device and the add-on module. The host device includes a body that has an open or non-enclosed docking bay on a side, and the module is placed into the docking bay such that a top side of its body mates with the inner surfaces and features of the docking bay. The interface is rugged so that the assembly is useful in the field, and the interface provides a secure attachment that can withstand dropping. A hook is provided on the top side of the body of the module, and the hook feature's shape, when combined with the location of fasteners on the module body that mate with threaded holes in the docking bay, is designed to withstand dropping.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2017Date of Patent: December 25, 2018Assignee: TRIMBLE INC.Inventors: Michael George Sanders, Steven N.
