    Abstract: An elbow terminator has a socket in which an electrical probe is disposed. The terminator is insertable onto an electrical bushing such that a tongue of the bushing is received in the socket of the terminator, and the probe of the terminator is electrically coupled to a contact sleeve disposed within the tongue. A latching mechanism produces positive latching between the tongue and socket when the tongue has been inserted to a predescribed depth within the socket. In order to enable an operator to visually observe that the tongue has been inserted to the prescribed depth, the bushing carries a color band which becomes completely disposed (invisible) in the socket when positive latching occurs. Alternatively, the bushing can be provided with gauge tabs which become aligned with a witness line formed on the terminator when positive latching occurs.

    Abstract: An interrupt assembly for a primary circuit breaker of a distribution transformer includes an elongated housing that is divided into separate chambers for holding insulating fluid that extinguish an arc generated when a high-voltage electrical path between two breaker contacts is broken. The elongated housing includes openings that allow for the rapid exit of the expanding gases generated as a result of the arc. Consequently, the separately held insulating fluid in each chamber presents a strong dielectric property to the arc, causing it to extinguish rapidly.

    Abstract: An electric device, such as a transformer, has a tank and an arrester for protection against high voltage surges, the arrester being grounded to a wall of the tank. A switch is mounted in the tank wall for enabling the ground connection to be disconnected from outside the tank. The switch includes a shaft extending slidably through an opening in the tank wall. A gripping handle is mounted on an outer end of the shaft, and a spring washer is mounted on an inner end of the shaft. The spring washer is electrically connected to a discharge side of the arrester and is movable toward the wall and into electrically conductive relationship therewith in response to sliding of the shaft. By sliding the shaft in a direction moving the washer away from the wall, the electrical connection is broken. The handle is threadedly mounted to the shaft to be reversible between a first position holding the shaft in its switch closed position, and a second position for enabling the shaft to be slid to its switch open position.
