Abstract: An improved hold-down system for securing an electrical connector assembly (1) to a circuit board (31) includes an insulative housing (5) having a plurality of cavities (11) adapted to receive a corresponding plurality of electrical contacts (10). The insulative housing (5) has at least one cavity (26) adapted to receive an improved hold-down device (15). The hold-down device (15) comprises a unitary planar construction, having a uniform thickness, and includes an upper portion (52) having two outwardly projecting stops (56) that are adapted to resiliently engage an internal portion of cavity (26). Two legs (54) extend downwardly from upper portion (52) in spaced-apart relation. Each leg (54) has at least one outwardly projecting barb (72) sized so as to engage a corresponding side wall (33) of an aperture (30) in circuit board (31). A retention wing (70) is positioned on an outer edge (76) of each leg (54).

Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (1) comprises, a first electrical connector (2), electrical contacts (7) in the first electrical connector extending to a mating face (6) of the connector (2), alignment posts (12) and first ground contacts (10) along the alignment posts (12), and a mating electrical connector (3) provided with post receiving cavities (11) with second ground contacts (10) in the cavities (11) engaging the first ground contacts (10) along the posts (12), and terminal portions (27) on the ground contacts (10) for backwards compatibility.

Abstract: There is disclosed, a kit of parts for a hand tool (2) for forming electrical tabs (T1,T2) projecting from cable end portions (FC1, FC2) to a plurality of different configurations. The kit of parts comprises a plurality of different tab forming dies (14,16,18), a base assembly (8) having thereon two spaced tab forming anvils (10,12) for co-operation respective ones of the dies (14,16,18), an upper tooling mount assembly (6) having a spline (60) for receiving a selected one of the dies (14,16,18), and an actuating mechanism (4). The tooling mount assembly (6) is mounted to the base assembly (8) so as to be moveable theretowards through a working stroke to cause the selected die (14,16,18), on the spline (60) to co-operate with the appropriate anvil (10,12) to form the tabs (T1 or T2) of a cable end portion (FC1,FC2) laid on a cable receiving surface (92,104) of the appropriate anvil (10,12) to a particular configuration determined by the choice of the die (14,16,18) and anvil (10,12).
