    Abstract: A hot-swap controller for use in an electrical machine (such as a computer) includes a P-ch MOSFET device operatively coupled to a ramp generator and a sensing error amplifier. A negative feedback loop interconnects the positive terminal of the amplifier with the output terminal of the P-ch MOSFET device and the negative terminal of the amplifier is coupled to the ramp generator. The error voltage generated by the amplifier drives the MOSFET device. The controller allows circuit cards to be inserted and/or removed, "Hot-Plugged", while the machine is operational without causing any deleterious effect on the operation of the machine.
