  • Patent number: 10064302
Abstract: A power inverter assembly provides a balanced power flow to each of a plurality of electrical machines. The power inverter assembly includes at least one heat sink having a top side and a bottom side, a plurality of pairs of power semiconductor modules mounted along the top and bottom sides of a heat sink for thermal exchange with the heat sink, and a plurality of gate driver boards configured to control the supply of DC power to each of the plurality of pairs of power semiconductor modules. A first pair of semiconductor modules is symmetrically arranged relative to second and third pairs such that the arrangement of the first, second, and third pairs of power semiconductor modules forms a geometric pattern with at least one of the second and third pairs at least partially overhanging the first pair.

  • Patent number: 9412518
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a capacitor package is disclosed. The capacitor package is suitable for use in electric drive traction applications that are subjected to high vibration. Such a capacitor package is relatively large and requires a unique mounting arrangement in order to account for a large mass and high vibration environment. The mounting arrangement provides a clamp load plane that is near the center of mass of the capacitor package.

  • Patent number: 9226431
Abstract: A casting for a housing for a flexible, configurable power converter is disclosed. The housing includes a power compartment that is configured to accept a heat sink in either of two orientations. The configurable nature of the power converter allows the same power convertible package to be used in a number of applications without having to incur the cost of developing a new power converter package.

  • Publication number: 20150165929
Abstract: An electric drivetrain using a configurable power converter package is disclosed. The configurable design allows for the power converter to support the drivetrain needs of a product line of machines without having to design a new power converter for each application. The electric drivetrain includes a first power conversion stage comprising a first configurable power converter and a second power conversion stage comprising a second configurable power converter. The first and second configurable power converters are one of a plurality of power configurations of a configurable power converter package.

  • Publication number: 20150173238
Abstract: A configurable power converter package is disclosed. The configurable design allows for the power converter to support the drivetrain needs of a product line of machines without having to design a new power converter for each application. Major components of the power converter package such as the housing, heat sink, power modules, and bus bars are designed to be combined into a number of different power configurations. The power configurations fulfill the needs of a product line of electric drivetrains without the need to design a new power converter package for each application.
