    Abstract: A clamping device for a multilayered battery comprising one or more electrochemical cells is provided. The clamping device can include one or more plates, guided elastic members, and/or one or more layers of an interfacial material, such as foam pads or papers, to provide distributed pressure across one or more surfaces of the multilayered battery during cell formation and/or cycling. A compression plate is employed to provide a compressive force to compress the elastic members to a predetermined length, at which the position of the elastic members can be fixed.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for direct coating of electrodes using pyrolysis of flat sheets in silicon-dominant anode cells. A plurality of flat electrode sheets may be formed, and at least a portion of the plurality of flat electrode sheets may be arranged into one or more stacks of flat electrode sheets. Each stack of flat electrode sheets may be placed onto a flat pyrolysis boat, and heat treatment (e.g., pyrolysis) may be applied to each flat pyrolysis boat. Forming of the flat electrode sheets may include use of cutting, punching, and/or notching, such as doing so based on predetermined electrode shapes and/or dimensions. The forming and/or arranging of the flat electrode sheets may be based on one or more predetermined criteria or considerations, such as shrinkage or expansion during the heat treatment.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for control of thermal transfer during electrode pyrolysis based processing. A thermal rod may be used for processing battery electrodes, with the thermal rod being configured for engaging an electrode roll. At least a portion of the thermal rod is disposed within the electrode roll once it is engaged with the electrode roll, and the thermal rod is configured for providing thermal transfer into the electrode roll during processing of the electrode roll, with the processing including pyrolysis processing of the electrode roll.
