  • Publication number: 20080029584
Abstract: Soap bars and related items that are not essentially rectangular in shape can be packaged in a single film wrapper to form a substantially rectangular soap bar package. The wrapper is comprised of two juxtaposed off-center films to produce a center two-ply structure and two end regions of a single ply. The soap bar or other item is placed on the two-ply section of the laminate structure which is wrapped laterally around the soap bar or other item. The single ply regions form the longitudinal end panels of the package and close the package. The end edges of the laminate structure overlap on a lower side of the soap bar and are sealed at the overlapping end edges. The two-ply laminate structure forms the top, bottom and connecting side surfaces of the package and the single ply regions the folded over and sealed end surfaces of the package.

  • Publication number: 20060201115
Abstract: Soap bars are packaged in a single sheet of material which can be plastic, paper, paperboard or combinations of these materials in the form of laminates. The soap bars are packaged in high-speed machines at more than about 50/minute. The single sheet of material is die cut to form a main section with the top, bottom and longitudinal side panels and end flaps appended to each panel. In order to promote folding at the desired points the sheet of material is weakened by scoring, perforating or scoring at the fold points. This weakening can be done just prior to feeding to the wrapping machine or at the time of die cutting. The die cutting can be done at the time of feeding in to the wrapping machine. The packaged soap bar will have planar end surfaces so that the package can stand on end and can have corner vents to permit the escape of some moisture and some fragrance at the point of sale.

  • Publication number: 20040238608
Abstract: Soap bars and related items that are not essentially rectangular in shape can be packaged in a single film wrapper to form a substantially rectangular soap bar package. The wrapper is comprised of a laminate structure of two juxtaposed off-center films to produce a center two-ply structure and two end regions of a single ply. The single ply regions form the longitudinal end panels of the package. Each of the films of the laminate can be of a monolayer or multilayer structure. The soap bar is wrapped laterally with the wrapper, the two-ply region forming the Lop, bottom and connecting side surfaces. The single ply areas form the end surfaces of the package that are sealed to close the package.

  • Patent number: 6336553
Abstract: Soap bars can be effectively packaged in substantially transparent materials so that the soap bar can be seen through the packaging material. This is particularly useful with decorative colored translucent soap bars. The soap bars first are at least partially enveloped in a first relatively thick and stiff substantially transparent film and then fully enveloped in a second relatively thin substantially transparent film. The soap bars are generally rectangular but with rounded edges and a shape that tapers in cross-section from a midpoint of the soap bar to the ends. The first film forms a substantially rectangular cylinder which envelops about 95% to about 105% of the soap bar. This rectangular cylinder is open at each end. The second film fully envelops the soap bar. The end package provides a soap bar maintained within a rectangular cylinder with a low fragrance loss and a moisture transmissivity of less than about 3 gm/m2/day.

  • Patent number: 5806983
Abstract: A pouch package is formed that has a multilayer structure of two or more layers where the longitudinal seal is formed from a bonding of the inner layer to the inner layer in a fin seal arrangement. One layer of the multilayer structure is a seal layer and another layer a barrier layer. There can be additional layers such as additional barrier layers and cutter lubricant layers. It is preferred that the multilayer structure have two to four layers (not counting adhesive tie layers) and that the inner seal layer be readily sealable by means of radio frequency energy. The longitudinal seal will preferably be along a side surface so as to have a spout. The pouch is made on form/fill equipment from a multilayer sheet by the multilayer sheet being formed into a tubular member with a longitudinal seal.
