  • Publication number: 20130180062
Abstract: An electrical device such as an electric toothbrush that comprises a handle and a head portion. The head portion comprises a bristle bearing portion and an optional neck portion. The handle includes a housing having a housing exterior. First and second conductive contacts are located on the exterior of the housing. The first and second conductive contacts form part of a high impedance touch sensitive circuit configured to operate a motor to drive the bristle bearing portion when the handle is gripped by a user.

  • Patent number: 5714447
Abstract: A deodorant soap or detergent composition comprising a surfactant, e.g., a soap or synthetic detergent, and either 1) minor but effective amounts in uncomplexed form of a water-insoluble zinc compound, e.g., zinc oxide, and a water-soluble zinc-complexing polyamine which is a polyalkyleneamine or a basic aminoacid polymer; or 2) a water-soluble complex of said water-insoluble zinc compound and said water-soluble zinc-complexing polyamine.

  • Patent number: 5587147
Abstract: This invention provides a single-phase aqueous solution of a zinc-polyamine complex which is stable and has a clear transparency. The aqueous solution can be incorporated as a component of an oral care product such as a mouthwash or toothpaste. The zinc-polyamine complex enhances the control of oral malodor, plaque, calculus and gingivitis in dental applications, and decreases the astringency and metallic taste which is characteristic of zinc ions in an oral cavity.

  • Patent number: 5573699
Abstract: The disclosure describes deodorant soap or detergent compositions comprising a surfactant, e.g., a soap or synthetic detergent, and as a deodorizing component, a minor amount of a sodium zinc carbonate hydrate complex salt. The latter salt may be prepared by reacting zinc oxide and sodium bicarbonate in the presence of water.

  • Patent number: 5455024
Abstract: Zinc oxide particles, preferably agglomerated, are added to dentifrices such as toothpastes, tooth gels, or tooth powders to inhibit the formation of plaque. The dentifrices contain sodium bicarbonate and other conventional ingredients such as thickeners, anti-calculus agents such as a pyrophosphate salts, anti-caries agents such as sodium fluoride, flavorings, sweetening agents, and/or secondary abrasives.

  • Patent number: 5376360
Abstract: Toothpastes containing sodium bicarbonate and an alkali metal pyrophosphate salt dissolved in an aqueous sorbitol solution inhibit the formation of tartar. The toothpastes contain conventional ingredients such as thickeners, anti-caries agents, flavoring agents, and/or sweetening agents.

  • Patent number: 5215740
Abstract: A dentifrice for inhibiting calculus formation, comprising sodium bicarbonate, one or more alkali metal pyrophosphate salts, a soluble fluoride ion source and other adjuvants, in admixture with a buffering agent selected from among an alkali metal orthophosphate, o-phosphoric acid, an alkali metal glycerophosphate, tri(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, tartaric acid or citric acid. The buffering agent is incorporated in the dentifrice in an amount of from about 0.1 to 2.5% by weight, sufficient to buffer the pH of the dentifrice to a value within the range of from about pH 8.2 to 8.9. The thus buffered dentifrice is subject to decreased risk of irritation of the oral mucosa or desquamation, as compared with dentifrices excluding such a buffering agent.
