  • Patent number: 7479887
Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure includes a closure shell having a skirt for securing the closure to a container neck finish and a tamper band frangibly coupled to the skirt for separation from the skirt upon first removal of the closure from the container. An RFID circuit, including an RFID tag and an antenna, is carried by the tamper band for separation from the skirt with the tamper band and remaining operational on the container after the closure has been removed from the container. The RFID circuit preferably is carried by a stop flange that extends from the tamper band, and is disposed between the stop flange and the tamper band.

  • Patent number: 7455808
Abstract: A method of making a container preform includes providing a mold core having at least one surface recess in the form of negative-mold indicia, and molding a preform around the core such that the preform has internal raised indicia formed by the at least one recess in the core. The preform preferably subsequently is blow-molded to form a container having the raised indicia on an inside surface of the container. This raised indicia on the inside surface of the container may be viewed from outside of the container to confirm that the container is genuine. In accordance with various embodiments of the disclosure, the raised internal indicia may be on the bottom wall, sidewall, shoulder and/or neck of the container.

  • Publication number: 20080068178
Abstract: A package includes a container and a closure secured to a neck finish of the container. An RFID circuit is disposed on the package, and includes an RFID tag on the closure and an RFID antenna on the container. The RFID tag and antenna are so disposed on the closure and the container that the tag makes electrical contact with the antenna to complete the RFID circuit when the closure is applied to the container neck finish. The RFID tag preferably is molded into or mounted on an inside surface of the closure, and the RFID antenna preferably is molded into or mounted on an external surface of the container neck finish. In various exemplary embodiments of the disclosure, the RFID tag is mounted on an inside surface of the closure skirt, an inside surface of the closure base wall or an inside surface of a liner disk within the closure, and the RFID antenna is molded into or mounted on an outside surface of the container neck finish or an end surface of the container neck finish.

  • Patent number: 5976452
Abstract: A method and apparatus wherein an extruder provides extruded plastic parisons to a first and second horizontally movable blow mold assemblies, and each blow mold assembly includes two sets of blow molds, and each set includes a pair of blow mold halves. The blow mold halves are closed about the tubular parisons and moved to one of two blow molding stations where a blow pin at the blow molding station blows the parison to form a hollow blow molded article. More specifically, four platens are provided in each blow mold assembly. A first pair of outer and inner platens supports the first pair of blow mold halves and a second pair of outer and inner platens supports the second pair of blow mold halves. A pair of tie rods passes through all four platens. The first outer platen is attached to the ends of the tie rods. The second outer platen is moved by a mechanism such as a cylinder or toggle mechanism for movement on the tie rods.

  • Patent number: 5918752
Abstract: A tamper-evident squeeze-and-turn child-resistant closure includes separate inner and outer caps each of integral monolithic plastic composition. The inner cap comprises a skirt with internal threads having application and removal lugs extending radially outwardly therefrom. The outer cap comprises an outer skirt having application lugs extending radially inwardly therefrom for engagement with the application lugs on the inner skirt to thread the closure onto a container. A pair of diametrically opposed tabs on the outer skirt have inwardly extending removal lugs for engagement with the removal lugs on the inner skirt to unthread the closure from the container. The tabs are resiliently joined at one end to the skirt, and are joined to the skirt at an opposing end by frangible links that rupture upon first inward movement of the tabs to indicate possible tampering with the closure.
