  • Publication number: 20250176984
Abstract: An exemplary catheter for use in a body lumen comprises: a catheter body; and a plurality of shock wave emitters disposed at a distal end of the catheter body, each shock wave emitter configured to generate a shock wave that propagates distally of the catheter body, wherein the plurality of shock wave emitters are arrayed about a longitudinal axis of the catheter body such that shock waves emitted from the plurality of shock wave emitters can constructively interfere distally of the catheter body, and wherein each shock wave emitter comprises electrodes separated by a spark gap and at least one electrical connector that connects at least one of the electrodes to an electrode of another shock wave emitter of the plurality of shock wave emitters.

  • Publication number: 20250160862
Abstract: Described herein are shock wave catheters having discontinuous emitter bands. The catheters may be used for treating occlusions in a body lumen. In some examples, the catheters include an elongated tube, a shock wave electrode assembly at least partially embedded within the elongated tube, and an enclosure surrounding the shock wave electrode assembly. In some examples, the electrode assembly includes an emitter band at least partially encircling the elongated tube, the emitter band forming a first electrode of an electrode pair, and one wire having a distal end forming a second electrode of the electrode pair. The shock wave electrode assembly is configured to emit a shock wave when a voltage pulse is applied across the electrode pair. In some examples, the at least one emitter band is compressible to reduce a diameter of the emitter band.

  • Patent number: 12178458
Abstract: Various shock wave catheters and methods of use thereof that do not utilize a guidewire are described herein. The shock wave catheters include at least one shock wave emitter disposed within a distal portion of the shock wave catheter and configured to generate shock waves. The ends of conductive wires extending within an elongate tube can form the shock wave emitter(s). The shock wave emitter(s) can be surrounded by an enclosure fillable with a conductive fluid delivered by the lumen of the elongate tube. The elongate tube can include a coil or slits therein that enable flexibility of the shock wave catheter, which, in combination with the narrow profile of the shock wave catheters described herein, enable their use in navigating and treating small, tortuous vessels.

  • Patent number: 11171845
Abstract: A microservices-management system intercepts a request for a cloud-based microservice sent by a microservices-architecture application. The system selects an optimal cloud-service provider from a group of candidate providers capable of delivering the microservice and then forwards the request to the optimal provider. The optimal provider is selected by drawing cognitive inferences from stored blockchain records that each describe a characteristic of a previous delivery of the requested service. Each record is generated by one of the candidate providers when delivering an instance of the microservice, regardless of whether the provider is in a trusted relationship with the application owner. The providers are barred by blockchain's intrinsic security features from altering or deleting previously stored blockchain records. Upon delivery of the service, the system compares the actual quality or cost of the delivery with predicted values in order to learn how to more effectively select optimal providers.

  • Publication number: 20170232465
Abstract: A viscous material noncontact jetting system has a jetting dispenser mounted for relative motion with respect to a surface. A control is operable to cause the jetting dispenser to jet a viscous material droplet that is applied to the surface as a viscous material dot. A device, such as a camera or weigh scale, is connected to the control and provides a feedback signal representing a size-related physical characteristic of the dot applied to the surface. The size-related physical characteristics of subsequently applied dots are controlled by heating and cooling, or adjusting a piston stroke in the jetting dispenser, in response to the size-related physical characteristic feedback. Dispensed material volume control and velocity offset compensation are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7422772
Abstract: An applicator for dispensing a conformal coating material onto a substrate. The applicator has a body with a nozzle having a dispensing orifice at a distal end of the body, and assist air is supplied to a location adjacent the dispensing orifice. A seat is disposed in the nozzle around the dispensing orifice, and an end of a needle is movable into contact with and through the seat to terminate a flow of the coating material through the dispensing orifice and eliminate any coating material flow path downstream of the seat. A needle guide is used to laterally support the needle above the nozzle. The distal end of a nozzle is the distal end of the applicator and is exposed for cleaning.

  • Publication number: 20030177401
Abstract: A system and method for using a unique identifier for encryption key derivation is presented. An application sends a password and a request for an encryption key to a hardware security module (HSM). The HSM uses the password to generate a tied application data encryption key (ADEK). The tied ADEK includes an encryption key and a known value that is “tied” to the password. The HSM encrypts the tied ADEK with a hardware master key and sends it to the application. When the application requests to encrypt or decrypt data, the application sends the encrypted tied ADEK and a password to the HSM. The password corresponds to the password used to generate the tied ADEK. The HSM uses an identical hardware master key and the password to recover the ADEK. The HSM also verifies that the known value is correct.

  • Patent number: 6601175
Abstract: Features of a data processing system, such as its configuration, are protected utilizing a machine-specific limited-life password. The data processing system includes execution resources for executing a watchdog program, a limited-life value generator, and non-volatile storage that stores a machine-specific value at least partially derived from relatively unique information associated with the data processing system (and preferably also derived from a secret control password). In response to each attempted access to the protected features of the data processing system, the watchdog program generates at least one machine-specific limited-life password from the machine-specific value and a limited-life value generated by the limited-life value generator. The watchdog program allows access to the protected features in response to entry of the machine-specific limited-life password and otherwise denies access.

  • Patent number: 6175924
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are disclosed for certifying the authenticity of an application program and for securely associating certified application programs whose certification has been verified, with persistent application data that they own. The invention prevents other application programs, including certified application programs whose certifications have been verified, from accessing data not of their own.

  • Patent number: 5956408
Abstract: Data, including a program and software updates, is encrypted by a public key encryption system using the private key of the data sender. The data is also digitally signed by the sender. The receiver decrypts the encrypted data, using the public key of the sender, and verifies the digital signature on the transmitted data. The program interacts with basic information stored within the confines of the receiver. As result of the interaction, the software updates are installed within the confines of the user, and the basic information stored within the confines of the user are changed.
