Patent number: 9004102Abstract: Disclosed are various apparatus and method for transferring a hydrocarbon fluid between two bodies. To this purpose, a transfer skid and transfer hoses are moved from a first body to a second body to be installed thereupon to provide fluid communication between the two bodies. Offloading of hydrocarbon fluid may then take place between the two bodies. Emergency release operation may be triggered during the offloading, where the transfer hoses are disconnected from the transfer skid, and are returned to the first body. Various features of the transfer skid and associated apparatus allow the transfer skid to be installed on the second body with improved mating connections, transfer hoses to be returned to the first body after offloading operation without hydrocarbon fluid leakage, and transfer hoses to disconnect with speed and safety during emergency release operation.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2011Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: Keppel Offshore & Marine Technology Centre Pte LtdInventors: Kok Seng Foo, Asbjørn Mortensen, Alex Kah Keong Tan, Toh Tung Wong, Wen Sin Chong, Teng Kiat Lim

Patent number: 8640340Abstract: Installation vessels and methods for offshore wind turbine installation are disclosed. In one embodiment, a cantilever mast is used to transfer of wind turbine components from an installation vessel to an offshore installation site and guide the transfer to prevent undesired swinging movements of the wind turbine components. In another embodiment, a main crane is used in cooperation with a guide arm to transfer and guide wind turbine components from an installation vessel to an offshore installation site.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2010Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignees: Keppel Offshore & Marine Technology Centre Pte Ltd, Offshore Technology Development Pte Ltd, Keppel Fels LtdInventors: Kok Seng Foo, Hock Chye Michael Chia, Asbjørn Mortensen, Cheng Choong Chan, Teng Kiat Lim, Toh Tung Wong, Tom Aksel Waitz Østvold, Rune Henriksen

Patent number: 8544840Abstract: An automatic document feeder with a drive system that can efficiently handle double-side scanning and accommodate more than one timing sequence for sequentially picking individual sheets from a stack using only two motors—a pick motor and a media motor. The automatic document feeder includes a pickup unit with a pick roller, a set of de-skew rollers, a main media path configured to guide a media sheet from the pickup unit to a scanning region and from the scanning region to an output tray, and a switch-back path configured to guide the media sheet back into the main media path. The drive system is operable to provide a high-speed picking mode and a delayed picking mode. In the high-speed picking mode, the pickup unit is driven by the pick motor to pull a subsequent media sheet from a stack of media sheet as soon as a previously pulled media sheet has passed the pick roller.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2007Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Keng Leong Ng, Thaddie Natalaray, Kyi Thu Maung, Toh Tung Wong, Wayne E Foote, Jeffrey C Madsen

Patent number: 8047151Abstract: A system and method for configuring and supporting mooring lines deployed on offshore structures, e.g. Spar-type platform, are provided with recessed portions that are located around the splash/ice zones for “cutting” through waves. An offshore structure may be provided with a chain tensioning mechanism that applies a desired tension to a hull chain and mooring line during mooring. Upon mooring the offshore structure, a chain lock mechanism maintains the tension in the hull chain and mooring line, while the chain tensioning mechanism releases a portion of the hull chain which is to be stored in a chain housing which is fully submerged underwater. This way, the recessed portions of the offshore structure around the splash/ice zones would be substantially free of the hull chains. Additionally, a disconnect mechanism may be provided to allow quick and safe disconnection of the offshore structure from the mooring position.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2009Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Assignees: Keppel Offshore & Marine Technology Centre Pte Ltd, Offshore Technology Development Pte LtdInventors: Kok Seng Foo, Asbjorn Mortensen, Rune Henriksen, Chai Wah Koh, Toh Tung Wong

Publication number: 20080265485Abstract: A sheet discharge roller assembly for a sheet feeding apparatus includes an upper cylindrical exit roller mounted on a rotatable drive shaft and a lower cylindrical pinch roller having a wheel attached to one end. The pinch roller has a length that is longer than the length of the exit roller and is moveable into contact with the exit roller so as to form a nip for gripping a print media to be discharged. The wheel has a diameter that is larger than that of the pinch roller and an outer circumferential edge composed of a plurality of protruding contact portions arranged in a radial pattern. The wheel is positioned so that the wheel can contact the media sheet being gripped and cause the sheet to deform temporarily, thereby making the sheet more rigid.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2007Publication date: October 30, 2008Inventors: Toh Tung Wong, Keng Leong NG, Wayne E.
