    Abstract: A process for depositing a salt by applying an electric current or voltage to at least one pair of electrodes placed in a supersaturated aqueous solution or supercooled molten liquid of an inorganic or organic salt, whereby the supersaturation or supercooling can be broken or prevented and the crystallization or solidification of the salt can be efficiently made. The process of the invention is advantageously utilized in an air-conditioning system.

    Abstract: Novel process for preparing sorbic acid comprising contacting .gamma.-vinyl-.gamma.-butyrolactone with an acid such as mineral acids, sulfonic acids or halogenated carboxylic acids or a cation-exchange resin at a temperature of 30.degree. to 150.degree. C. Sorbic acid is economically prepared with ease and with simple procedures.
