  • Publication number: 20080076684
Abstract: A low-friction sliding mechanism includes a pair of sliding members having respective sliding surfaces slidable relative to each other and an ionic liquid applied to the respective sliding surfaces. At least one of the sliding surfaces has a coating of either a diamond-like carbon material, a diamond material or a combination thereof. The ionic liquid consists of cation and anion components and exists in liquid or gel form at room temperature.

  • Publication number: 20070292057
Abstract: A sliding structure is provided with at least a first sliding member that has a sliding surface and a plurality of micro-recessed parts with bottom surfaces having a maximum depth point spaced from the sliding surface to define a plurality of recesses. Each bottom surfaces includes a concaved portion extending rearward with respect to a sliding direction from the maximum depth point. Each micro-recessed parts has a cross-sectional shape in the sliding direction has an S/L ratio of 0 to 0.3, where L is an overall length of the micro-recessed part with respect to the sliding surface in the sliding direction and S is a length from a forward edge of the micro-recessed part with respect to the sliding surface in the sliding direction to the maximum depth point. The sliding member slide with respect to another sliding member with a viscous fluid interposed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6806242
Abstract: A low-friction sliding mechanism of the present invention comprises first and second sliding members slidable relative to each other at sliding surfaces thereof and a lubricant being applied to the sliding surfaces of the first and second sliding members. The first and second members are made of a diamond-like carbon material and an iron-based material, respectively, and the lubricant comprises a base oil and at least one of an ashless fatty-ester friction modifier and an ashless aliphatic-amine friction modifier.

  • Patent number: 6736101
Abstract: A low friction sliding element for reciprocating engine parts, including a sliding contact surface that is in sliding contact with a counterpart during relative sliding motion of the sliding element and the counterpart. The sliding contact surface has microscopic recesses and plateaus interrupted by the recesses. The recesses have depths regularly varying in a sliding direction of the sliding element.
