  • Patent number: 5267814
Abstract: A mechanism for continuously constructing reinforced concrete tunnels is shown, which comprises a ring-like blade body having a rearwardly tapered inner surface like an earthenware mortar, a cylindrical wall extending integrally and rearwardly from the blade body and defining an inner space, a reinforcement member passage formed in the blade body and communicating the inner space in the cylindrical wall and an outer wall formation zone formed outside the cylindrical wall, and a concrete charging port formed in the blade body for charging concrete under a super-high pressure into the outer wall formation zone.Through the inner space in the cylindrical wall and the reinforcement member passage is supplied a reinforcement member consisting of a main bar and branch bars in a state with the branch bars held bound together with the main bar, the branch bars becoming perpendicular to the main bar in the outer wall formation zone.

  • Patent number: 5039162
Abstract: A chair (1) serving as a safety device for a passenger in an airplane includes a plural circular array of balloon elements (2) each comprising an inflatable balloon member (2a, 2a') made of heat resistant elastomeric sheet material and a hose portion (2b, 2b') through which compressed air is supplied from a storage chamber (3) under the seat (4) of the chair to the balloon member. The balloon elements are folded in a predetermined order of arrays around the chair, except the seat and backrest portions, and in an emergency are inflated with the compressed air so that they are expanded, unfolded and extended outwardly of the chair in plural radial directions to form a single large expanded cellular balloon structure with the passenger located at a central part thereof, each inflated element being a cell of the expanded balloon structure. This large balloon structure functions as a safety device for the passenger. An emergency valve is actuated by a pilot or, alternatively, by an individual passenger for use.

  • Patent number: 5012644
Abstract: An automatic speed changing apparatus, employable for a motorcar, which includes a hydraulic pump on the driving side mounted on a driving shaft, a plurality of hydraulic motors on the driven side mounted on a driven shaft, a distributor including a cylinder and a piston slidably received in the cylinder, a hydraulic oil collecting pipe having a large diameter in which working hydraulic oil is stored for the hydraulic pump and motors on both the driving and driven sides, an idling lever pivotally supported in the cylinder to be operable during a period of idling and a piston lever for displacing the piston axially in the cylinder during normal operation and during a period of engine braking.

  • Patent number: 4821984
Abstract: A safety chamber of the telescopic type usable for an airplane includes a plurality of wall segments, granular cushioning materials and a parachute. As long as it is not in use, the wall segments are accommodated in a contracted state in the space on the ceiling of the airplace. In the event of an occurrence of emergency the wall segments are lowered one after another to constitute a chamber in which a single seat assembly is incased together with passengers sitting thereon. When the lowermost wall segment reaches the floor of the airplace, a plurality of hooks around the lower edge thereof are engaged with recessed parts on the bottom of the seat assembly and at the same time the cushioning materials fall down from the ceiling while expanding by themselves whereby the hollow space in the expanded chamber surrounding the passengers is filled with cushioning materials for the purpose of preventing the passengers from the influence of shocks.

  • Patent number: 4616519
Abstract: An improved stepless power transmission apparatus of the type utilizing magnetic force for making an operative connection between a driving pulley and a driven pulley. The apparatus essentially comprises a primary shaft operatively connected for rotation to a prime mover and having a spirally extending groove formed thereon, a disc-shaped driving pulley displaceably fitted onto the primary shaft in operational engagement with the spirally extending groove, an expansive spring for causing the driving pulley to be normally urged in a direction away from the proper input end of the primary shaft, a truncated cone-shaped driven pulley whose outer conical surface is adapted to come in rolling contact with the peripheral surface of the driving pulley and a secondary shaft made integral with the driven pulley and operatively connected to a power consuming machine or apparatus via a universal joint.

  • Patent number: 4505164
Abstract: A new and unique automatic transmission mechanism to be preferably mounted on an automobile or the like is disclosed which contains two gear assemblies as essential components. The first gear assembly generally comprising four gear elements of a low gear, a second gear, a third gear and a top gear is arranged freely rotatable on an engine output shaft with a clutch holder axially displaceably disposed therebetween, whereas the second gear assembly comprising a single solid multi-stage driven gear is fixedly arranged on a driven shaft. The first gear assembly meshes with the second gear assembly in such a manner that a certain gear element of the former meshes with a corresponding gear section of the latter.
