Patent number: 6137586Abstract: To provide a transmission device wherein a memory is prevented from being filled up with data. After printing of backup data stored in the memory, a display portion displays a message inquiring a user whether or not printing of the backup data has been performed properly. If the user indicates that the printing has been performed properly by performing predetermined key operations, then the backup data is automatically erased from the memory.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1998Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tokunori Kato

Patent number: 6043905Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a scanner for reading an image, a controller for converting the scanned image to a image having a predetermined resolution, a recorder for recording the image having a predetermined resolution, on a recording sheet and a motor for feeding the recording sheet a predetermined pitch. The controller skips some of the image data converted to the predetermined resolution according to a size that the image is to be reduced to, such that no more than one line of image data is skipped successively. When successive lines of image data are recorded the controller controls the motor to feed the recording sheet at the predetermined pitch, separated by a first interval of time. When one line of image data is skipped the controller controls the motor to feed the recording sheet at the predetermined pitch, separated by a second interval of time which is twice as long as the first interval of time.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1996Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tokunori Kato

Patent number: 6018569Abstract: While the answering machine is recording a message from a remote caller, if it is determined that an automatic reproduction request code has been inputted over the telephone, the time and day designated by the remote caller on which the message is to be reproduced is inputted as reproduction time data. Afterward, the message spoken by the remote caller is recorded as sound data. Also the time and day designated for reproduction is stored as automatic reproduction time data. When, by passage of time, the time registered by the clock circuit matches the time and day designated for reproduction, an alarm is sounded by the speaker 14. Then the message is reproduced.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1997Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiro Kuwabara, Tetsuya Ouchi, Tokunori Kato

Patent number: 5901218Abstract: A telephone set incorporated in a facsimile system using two or more telephone numbers called by respective call signals having different patterns, which are stored in a pattern data memory when the call signals are received and detected in a registering mode and with which the pattern of a call signal received when the telephone set is not in the registering mode is compared to determine the telephone number being called. The registering mode is established by an operator-controlled mode setting device. The patterns of the call signals are detected by a pattern detector in the registering mode, and the detected patterns are registered in the pattern data memory, so that the telephone number called by each call signal is determined by a pattern determining device as a result of comparison of the pattern of each call signal with the registered patterns in the pattern data memory.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1997Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tokunori Kato

Patent number: 5898824Abstract: In a facsimile machine for used in combination with a personal computer, when incoming image data from a remote facsimile machine cannot be printed simultaneously with receipt of the data and a RAM of the facsimile machine does not have a sufficient storage capacity to store the data, the personal computer plays a role of a data receiving end for the incoming image data. When the RAM of the facsimile machine has a space to store the incoming image data, it is stored therein provided that simultaneous printing of the image data is impossible. When the storage capacity of the RAM is reduced to less than a predetermined minimum in the process of storing operation and the entire image data cannot be stored in the RAM, then the remaining part of the image data is sent to the personal computer and stored in its associated hard disk.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1996Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tokunori Kato, Kiyotsugu Takiguchi, Makoto Yamada

Patent number: 5775821Abstract: In a facsimile machine, when a received image data having resolution of standard mode is stored in a reception data memory, the image data is decoded and then converted to image data of two fine or four super fine lines and stored in a first recording data memory. The image data stored in the first recording data memory is subjected to a thin-out processing at a set reduction ratio, then stored in a second recording data memory and finally recorded on a recording sheet.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tokunori Kato

Patent number: 5574575Abstract: In an image recording apparatus, a feeding mechanism synchronously feeds an original bearing an original image and image receiving medium for receiving an image, the original image having successive original image sections. A reading device reads out each of the successive original image sections and for producing a set of original image data representative of the each original image section, the reading device cooperating with the feeding mechanism so as to read out the successive original image sections one by one, to thereby produce successive sets of original image data representative of the successive original image sections one by one. A transfer unit transfers one by one the successive sets of original image data from the reading device. A shift register receives one by one the successive sets of original image data transferred by the transfer unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1993Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tokunori Kato

Patent number: 5089691Abstract: An image recording apparatus having means for changing an exposure condition in accordance with a change in photosensitivity of an applied photosensitive recording medium. The recording medium has a leading end portion provided with a bar code indicative of the photosensitivity. Upon sensing the data, control means controls the exposure condition by controlling light irradiation amount from the light source and/or filter insertion amount relative to an optical path. The bar code may be erroneously read by a bar code reader, or if the bar code is not attached to the recording medium, correct data is read out from a memory means. Alternatively, a standardized data is loaded into the memory means, and the latter data is read out for the control to the exposure condition.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1990Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Morisaki, Tokunori Kato
