  • Publication number: 20080067864
Abstract: A vehicular hydraulic system having a hydraulic pump, a first hydraulic application, a second hydraulic application and a hydraulic reservoir arranged in series. A check valve is positioned to allow the flow of fluid from a point between the second hydraulic application and the pump to a point upstream of the second hydraulic application when the fluid flow upstream of the second application has been significantly reduced. The first and second applications may be a hydraulic brake assist device and a steering gear assist device. The use of such a check valve may also be employed with a hydraulic system having a priority valve for diverting a portion of the fluid flow to the second application when the pressure upstream of the first application is elevated above a threshold value. The hydraulic system may also employ a pump that has a discharge rate that falls within a predefined range.

  • Publication number: 20080067865
Abstract: A vehicular hydraulic system having a hydraulic pump, a first hydraulic application and a second hydraulic application arranged in series. A relief valve is arranged parallel with the second application to allow fluid to bypass the second application when fluid pressure upstream of the second application exceeds a threshold value. The first and second applications may be a brake assist device and a steering gear assist device. The hydraulic system may also include a priority valve for diverting a portion of the fluid flow to the second application when the pressure upstream of the first application exceeds a threshold value. The threshold value for the first application may be greater than the threshold value for the second application. The hydraulic system may include a pump having a discharge rate that falls within a predefined range. A check valve may also be arranged parallel with the relief valve and second application.

  • Publication number: 20080024028
Abstract: An electric motor for reducing torque ripple includes a rotor, a plurality of magnets positioned about the rotor, and a stator including a plurality of stator teeth configured to form at least two slot openings each having a slot opening width wo and a slot opening height ho. One or more of the stator teeth include a dummy channel having a channel height wn and a channel width wb. At least one of the slot opening width wo, the slot opening height ho, the channel height wn, and the channel width wb, are selected so as to minimize or reduce cogging torque.

  • Patent number: 7298967
Abstract: A method of interfacing an electromagnetic sensor with a controller in a motor control system, the method including: applying an excitation signal to the electromagnetic sensor; receiving a first electromagnetic sensor output signal based on the excitation signal, the first electromagnetic sensor signal comprising an amplitude modulated signal corresponding to a position of a rotor of the electromagnetic sensor; and receiving a second electromagnetic sensor output signal based on the excitation signal, the second electromagnetic sensor signal comprising another amplitude modulated signal corresponding to the position of the rotor of the electromagnetic sensor.

  • Publication number: 20040145324
Abstract: An integrated control device for an environmental system comprises a motor that is in mechanical communication with a device forcing fluid through the environmental system and a controller physically mounted to the motor. The controller includes a processor programmed to control the motor and at least one other internal system of said environmental system in response to a thermostat control signal. The other internal system may comprise a heater and/or cooling unit.

  • Patent number: 4392583
Abstract: A cap and valve assembly for a liquid reservoir has a cover in which is disposed a flexible valve member. The flexible valve member has an annular sealing portion engaging the reservoir and a diaphragm portion. An air chamber is formed between the diaphragm portion and the cover, which chamber expands and contracts in response to mechanical vibrations of the reservoir, whereby air is drawn from atmosphere and pumped to the interior of the reservoir. The valve member is spring-loaded when the cap assembly is secured to the reservoir in a manner to assist the annular sealing contact and to establish the at rest volume of the air chamber.
