Patent number: 12377377Abstract: A filter element for a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a filter media pack and a first support element. The filter media pack includes a pleated filter media. The first support element includes a connecting member that is coupled to the pleated filter media and includes at least a portion of a curved wall that curves above a central axis that extends substantially parallel to an insertion direction of the filter element into a filter housing. The first interface member is located at a distal end of the connecting member and defines a first support ledge that is disposed over the connecting member and that extends substantially parallel to the insertion direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2025Date of Patent: August 5, 2025Assignee: Research Products CorporationInventors: Steven J. Buth, Peter J. Davis, John R. Genova, Yiwu Yu, Tom Friederick, Thomas J. Anoszko

Patent number: 12298015Abstract: A manifold assembly includes a body and a damper assembly. The body defines a first opening, a second opening, outlet third opening, and a fluid plenum. The fluid plenum fluidly couples the first opening, the second opening, and the third opening. The damper assembly includes a first damper, a second damper, and a connecting member. The first damper is disposed within the fluid plenum proximate to the first opening. The second damper is disposed within the fluid plenum proximate to the second opening. The connecting member is coupled to both the first damper and the second damper and is configured to move the first damper and the second damper to selectively open one of the first opening or the second opening while closing the one not opened.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2023Date of Patent: May 13, 2025Assignee: Research Products CorporationInventors: Jeff Norton, Tom Friederick, Scott Grefsheim

Publication number: 20240210059Abstract: A method of controlling indoor air humidity includes determining a dew point set point and determining a dew point of air from a space within a building. The method also includes, in response to determining that the dew point satisfies the dew point set point, determining a vent air dew point of air in an external environment surrounding the building. The method further includes, in response to determining that the vent air dew point is below the dew point set point by a dew point threshold, controlling a connecting member of a damper assembly to position a first damper of the damper assembly in an open position to draw in vent air from the external environment into the space, and to position a second damper of the damper assembly in a close position to substantially prevent recirculation of air through the dehumidifier.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2024Publication date: June 27, 2024Applicant: RESEARCH PRODUCTS CORPORATIONInventors: Scott Grefsheim, Jeff Norton, Tom Friederick

Publication number: 20240117981Abstract: A humidity control system and method for controlling the humidity of ambient air is disclosed. The system includes a humidification and dehumidification systems to increase and/or decrease the humidity level of an indoor space and a sensor to sense ambient conditions of the space. The system further includes a controller that receives a humidity setpoint for the indoor space, determines the humidity level associated with the indoor space, compares the determined humidity level to the humidity setpoint, and causes activation of one of a humidification system or a dehumidification system. In response to causing the activation of one of the humidification or dehumidification system, the controller initiates a lockout condition during which the other of the one of the humidification or dehumidification system is prevented from activation. The controller also monitors for an override condition and enables activation of the other of the humidification system or the dehumidification system accordingly.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2023Publication date: April 11, 2024Applicant: Research Products CorporationInventors: Wade Ferkey, Tom Friederick, Chip Seidel, Sean McCarthy, Nicholas Balazs
