  • Publication number: 20090042165
Abstract: A dental instrument comprises a handle member and a tool assembly. The handle member includes a first end, a second end and a longitudinal axis. The tool assembly extends from the first end of the handle member. The tool assembly comprises a tool arm, a first blade member and a second blade member. The tool arm has a proximal end extending from the first end of the handle and a distal end spaced therefrom. The first blade member extends away from the distal end of the tool arm and has a first flattened region. The second blade member extends away from the distal end of the tool arm and has a second flattened region. The first and second flattened regions are substantially perpendicular to each other in one dimension. The first blade member is configured for substantially transverse movement within a mouth of a patient. The second blade member is configured for substantially longitudinal movement within a mouth of a patient.

  • Publication number: 20080026343
Abstract: A prophy angle comprising a housing, a paste advancing assembly, and a polishing drive assembly. The paste advancing assembly includes a cavity for retaining a quantity of paste, a piston configured for slidable receipt within the cavity and a nozzle. The polishing drive assembly includes a drive shaft, a drive gear and a cup gear. The drive shaft, the drive gear and the cup gear are each isolated from the cavity of the paste advancing system.

  • Publication number: 20080014553
Abstract: A dental instrument comprising a handle member, a first tool assembly and a second tool assembly. The handle member includes a barrel, a tapered first end and a tapered second end. The first tool assembly comprises a first tool arm, a burnisher extending from the first tool arm, a first plugger element extending from the burnisher and a second tool arm extending from the burnisher. The second tool assembly comprises a second tool arm, a blade member extending from the second tool arm and an acorn carver extending from at least one of the second tool arm and the blade member.

  • Publication number: 20070172793
Abstract: A dental implement comprising a primary body and a secondary body. The primary body includes a substantially planar ring shaped portion having opposing ends and a pair of tines extending in a downward direction from the opposing ends. The secondary body is formed over at least a portion of the primary body. The secondary body defines a cross-sectional area therealong. The cross-sectional area of the secondary body is greater than that of the primary body over which it is formed. The secondary body imparts increased rigidity to the dental implement over the primary body.

  • Patent number: 7223101
Abstract: A dental wedge comprises an elongated body, which includes a distal end and a proximal end which tapers to the distal end. The distal end defines an insertion end and tilts upwardly. The elongate body has a first portion starting at the distal end and has a second portion that ends at the proximal end. The first portion has a generally triangular-shaped cross-section and the second portion has a generally trapezoidal cross-section.
