  • Publication number: 20240074867
Abstract: In some embodiments, the present invention provides a reverse shoulder glenoid prosthesis which supports the attachment of multiple different types of modular attachments that can: 1) provide additional scapular fixation (ie external to the glenoid) in order to improve glenoid implant fixation in cases of severe bone loss/fracture, 2) provide joint line lateralization to improve tissue stability in cases of severe glenoid/scapula bone loss, 3) facilitate use and containment of glenoid bone graft in cases of severe glenoid/scapula bone loss—particularly in those cases in which the glenoid defect is uncontained/peripheral 4) achieve glenoid fixation while at the same time reconstructing the scapular bone in cases of scapula fractures, glenoid fractures, and/or acromial fractures, and 5) provide improved rTSA joint biomechanics, particularly posterior rotator cuff efficiency by changing the line of action of the infraspinatus and teres minor muscles to improve their muscle tension, and also increase each muscle'

  • Patent number: 5879683
Abstract: The invention provides a method of inhibiting production of bacteria which constitutively express PBP2' or bacteria which inducibly express PBP2' in the presence of a .beta.-lactam antibiotic, by administering an effective amount of an extract of tea to the bacteria. The tea extract contains at least one active principle of dried tea and being extractable from processed dried tea with hot water and this active principle is capable, on administration, of restoring the activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) of a .beta.-lactam antibiotic. Preferably, the extract of tea can be administered to a human or animal subject together with a .beta.-lactam antibiotic.

  • Patent number: 5564756
Abstract: A duct coupling pad for joining flexible ducts includes an outer section surrounding a central opening. An adhesive coating is applied to one surface of the coupling pad for adhering the pad to a first one of the ducts to be joined. An opening is formed in the first duct within the area of the central opening of the coupling pad. Securing tabs integrally formed with the outer section of the coupling pad are folded inwardly into the opening in the first duct and adhered to the inner surface thereof. The coupling pad binds the edge of the opening in the first duct to prevent splitting and tearing of the linings. A collar is inserted into the central opening of the coupling pad and the second duct is connected to the collar.
