Patent number: 11537086Abstract: A pulsar based timing synchronization method and system are disclosed. In one example, a method includes receiving, by a pulsar signal receiver device, a pulse signal emitted from one or more celestial objects and processing, by the pulsar signal receiver device, the pulse signal to discipline a local clock to determine an accurate time output. The method also includes generating, by the pulsar signal receiver device, a timing synchronization signal based on the determined accurate time output. The method further includes providing, by the pulsar signal receiver device, the timing synchronization signal to at least one of a local power system device and a timing distribution network server.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2019Date of Patent: December 27, 2022Assignees: University of Tennessee Research Foundation, UT-Battelle, LLCInventors: Jiecheng Zhao, Yilu Liu, Yong Liu, Peter Louis Fuhr, Tom King, He Yin, Lingwei Zhan, Marissa Morales-Rodriguez, Wenxuan Yao

Patent number: 8643996Abstract: A fine arrestor having a body with a bore there through, an inner conductor within the bore, an inner conductor capacitor within the bore coupled between a surge portion of the inner conductor and a protected portion of the inner conductor, and an inner conductor inductor within the bore coupled electrically in parallel with the inner conductor capacitor. A first shorting portion coupled between the surge portion of the inner conductor and the body and a second shorting portion coupled between the protected portion of the inner conductor and the body, for conducting a surge to ground. Also, other coaxial in-line assemblies may be formed incorporating the inner conductor cavity for isolation of enclosed electrical components.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2012Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: Andrew LLCInventors: Frank A Harwath, Tom King, Joon Lee

Publication number: 20020104587Abstract: A controlled nitrogen diffusion process is employed on a steel coil spring of a suspension system. One known process is that known as the Nitreg® process. Ammonia is introduced into a furnace atmosphere and nitrogen diffuses into the coil spring, creating a hardened diffusion zone which resists fatigue and fractures. The Nitreg® nitrogen diffusion process is a computer controlled menu driven process which continually monitors the process parameters. By regulating the nitriding potential, the monitored process parameters are automatically adjusted to achieve optimal results. The nitriding potential is the tendency of nitrogen to be absorbed by steel and is expressed as the ratio of the partial pressure of ammonia to the partial pressure of hydrogen. Additionally, the depth of the white compound layer can be regulated or eliminated, reducing distortions.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2001Publication date: August 8, 2002Inventors: Leo Medeiros, Tom King
