Patent number: 6628729Abstract: A portable data storage device receives data from a digital broadcast signal receiver that is adapted to separate the data from a digital broadcast signal. The portable data storage device includes a first transceiver that communicates with a second transceiver associated with the digital broadcast signal receiver and further includes a memory for storing the received data. A processor disposed within the portable data storage device controls the storage of the data and further causes a data request signal to be generated and transmitted to the digital broadcast signal receiver. A controller disposed within the digital broadcast signal receiver responds to the data request signal by causing the data separated from the digital broadcast signal to be transmitted via the second transceiver to the portable data storage device. The portable data storage device further includes a data communication port for transferring the data to a personal computer.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1999Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: Zenith Electronics CorporationInventor: Tom L. Patent number: 6598226Abstract: A device for provisioning, retrieving, and using data guide information transmitted in a digital broadcast signal is disclosed. A receiver receives the digital broadcast signal which includes digital television programming packets multiplexed with data packets and thereafter routes the received signal to a demodulator. The demodulator provides a demodulated signal to a detector which identifies data packets contained therein. A processor then determines the types of data in the data packets, as well as the respective channels on which the identified types of data are transmitted. The processor prepares a menu for a display screen enabling a user to select the channel of interest, and enables the user to be connected accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1999Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Zenith Electronics CorporationInventor: Tom L. Patent number: 6384876Abstract: A video projector is arranged with three color CRTs vertically aligned with respect to a forwardly located projection surface. The projection surface is in a room having opposite side walls on either side of said projection surface. The video projector is positioned closely adjacent either of said side walls, thus leaving the ceiling and floor areas of the room unobstructed. The arrangement facilitates non intrusive use of a video projector in a home environment.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1994Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: Zenith Electronics CorporationInventor: Tom L. Patent number: 4754206Abstract: A shutdown circuit for a CRT deflection and high voltage system includes a magnetic core having a one turn sensing coil in series with the emitter-collector of the horizontal output transistor that supplies the CRT deflection means and high voltage generator. A one turn pickup coil is also coupled to the magnetic core and develops a signal responsive to the load current in said transistor. The signal is rectified and supplied to the base-emitter junction of a switch transistor having its emitter-collector path connected between the junction of the power supply fuse and a B+ voltage terminal and ground. In the event of a fault in the load supplied by the horizontal output transistor, the switch transistor is driven conductive to place a short circuit across the B+ voltage terminal to rapidly blow the fuse.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1986Date of Patent: June 28, 1988Assignee: Zenith Electronics CorporationInventor: Tom L.
