  • Patent number: 6154654
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method for a frequency re-use plan is disclosed which reduces the adjacent channel interference between cells, while maintaining good co-channel interference in a four cell frequency reuse plan with a center-excited three sector directional pattern. This can be accomplished by structuring the four cell frequency reuse plan such that no adjacent cells use adjacent channels. As a result, the adjacent channel interference can be minimized, the radio coverage can be extended and in-building penetration can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6097708
Abstract: A cell cluster for use with a frequency re-use pattern is disclosed. The cell cluster comprises eight antenna sites arranged in first and second adjacent columns having four sites associated with the first column and four sites associated with the second column. Frequency groups are assigned to each of the antenna sites such that no adjacent channel interference exist between the antenna sites or between any similarly configured cell clusters associated with the cell cluster.

  • Patent number: 6061567
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method for cell planning is disclosed which reduces the co-channel interference between cell clusters by alternating the antenna-pointing azimuth angle between "rows" of cell clusters within a cellular system. Thus, for a mobile terminal within a serving cell of a serving cluster, the antenna pointing azimuth angles for the clusters directly above and below the serving cluster, i.e., in adjacent rows, are opposite that of the antenna pointing azimuth angle of the serving cluster. Furthermore, the cells contained in the serving cluster have the same antenna pointing azimuth angle as those cells within adjacent clusters to the right and left of the serving cluster, i.e., in the same row.

  • Patent number: 5924037
Abstract: A cell cluster for use with a frequency re-use pattern is disclosed. The cell cluster comprises seven antenna sites arranged in first and second adjacent columns having four sites associated with the first column and three sites associated with the second column. Frequency groups are assigned to each of the antenna sites such that no adjacent channel interference exist between the antenna sites or between any similarly configured cell clusters associated with the cell cluster.
