Patent number: 12268578Abstract: An absorbent article can have a topsheet layer, a liquid impermeable layer, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet layer and the liquid impermeable layer. The absorbent article can further include an exudate management layer in fluid communication with the topsheet layer. In various embodiments, the exudate management layer can be positioned on a body facing surface of the topsheet layer. In various embodiments, the exudate management layer can be positioned between the topsheet layer and the absorbent core. The exudate management layer has a first component which defines an opening for direct passage of body exudates into the absorbent core. The exudate management layer has a second component which at least partially overlaps the first component of the exudate management layer and further extends in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article in a direction towards the posterior region of the absorbent article.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2018Date of Patent: April 8, 2025Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: David J. Nickel, Matthew D. Woods, Tom Porter, Todd M. Ake

Patent number: 10328327Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for administering a hole-in-one contest. Upon receiving payment, an identification code is transmitted to the golfer, and a video recording is made of the following events: 1) the player writing the identification code on the ball, 2) the player hitting the ball toward the green, 3) the ball's flight path toward the green, 4) retrieval of the ball from the cup, and 5) a close-up view of the ball showing the same identifying code that was placed on the ball earlier. The video recording is transmitted to a server where it is authenticated and verified. If the hole-in-one is verified, the player is awarded a prize. The system includes a player device, a video recording device (which may be integrated with the player device), a transmitter unit, a receiver unit, and a server.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2017Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: 10&8Inventors: Tom Porter, Dallas Mix, Robert Forsberg, Raymond E. Publication number: 20080038742Abstract: In the present invention, cDNA microarrays to investigate pituitary gene expression in two chicken lines that were selected for low and high body fat (Lean and Fat). Differentially expressed genes between lines are potential candidates as genetic markers for high and low potential for body fat accumulation. The lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptor-1 (LPAR1) was identified as a potential marker, being differentially expressed between the lean and fat lines at the early ages. The invention provides SNPs that can introduce a GATA site in the promoter of LPAR1 which can upregulate its expression in the lean chickens, and increased LPA signaling and which can inhibit preadipocyte differentiation. Conversely, SNPs are provided that cause loss of the GATA binding site and cause decreased levels of LPAR1 expression and attenuated inhibition of adipocyte maturation in fat chickens.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2007Publication date: February 14, 2008Inventors: Tom Porter, Michael Muchow
