  • Patent number: 11065526
Abstract: A method for using an active braking mechanism to halt the motion of a treadmill belt, or other exercise machine system, when the engine ceases driving it and to hold the belt, or system, after the brake is engaged. The types of braking systems will generally utilize at least one but often two or more forms of electrical braking. Frictional braking systems may also be present, but the electrical braking systems will generally be primarily responsible for braking the belt at high inclines.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 3, 2019
Date of Patent: July 20, 2021
    Assignee: True Fitness Technology, Inc.

  • Patent number: 10265600
Abstract: A pull cord safety system, primarily for use with an exercise device such as, but not limited to, a treadmill, that provides for a captive cord which is fixed to the exercise device via a trip mechanism housing. This provides for the benefits of a pull cord safety shutoff where the treadmill shuts off if sufficient force is applied to pull the cord, but keeps the system from being a separable key system. Thus, it eliminates misplacing the key and provides for a system which can more easily be triggered regardless of the angle of fall or instability.

  • Publication number: 20180369634
Abstract: Treadmills or similar exercise devices which utilize a motor driven belt which can be used to provide a powered running surface, but can also be used to provide a resistance to movement of the belt to allow a user to have to manually drive the belt at a constant resistance or torque regardless of incline. This later mode of operation is akin to the pushing or pulling of a weight sled and can be arranged so that a user can be required to supply a constant torque over a range of inclines.

  • Patent number: 6710713
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for tracking athletes during team competition, analyzing the performance of the athletes, and displaying motion picture images of the athletes along with selected measured and derived data about the motion of the athletes. In one embodiment, graphical icons representing movement parameters are superimposed upon the video images of a plurality of athletes during athletic play. In another embodiment, the motion data of a particular athlete are analyzed for a plurality of playing environments, including teammates and opponents, to determine the conditions under which the particular athlete excels or fails. In yet another embodiment, combinations of moving picture images of athletes and athlete motion data are provided to sports commentators for display to television audiences. In a particular embodiment, the images and data are provided to sports fans at locations remote from the game.
