    Abstract: Techniques enable virtual data write-back in business intelligence (BI) reporting. In one example, a method includes outputting an initial version of a business intelligence (BI) report, wherein the BI report comprises a first field and a first BI report element. The first field displays a first item of data from a first data source. The first BI report element is based at least in part on the first item of data. The method includes receiving an input indicating a modified form of the first item of data. The method includes generating a revised form of the first BI report element based in part on the modified form of the first item of data. The method includes outputting a revised version of the BI report comprising the modified form of the first item of data in the first field and the revised form of the first BI report element.
