  • Patent number: 6040492
Abstract: A method of fastening a liquid-impervious sheet (7) to a wound pad (5) that is comprised of an elastic, hydrophilic material and that will expand in all directions when absorbing fluid. The pad (5) is stretched to a given extent both longitudinally and transversally in the plane of the pad and a flat liquid-impervious sheet (7) is then applied to the stretched pad and the load acting on the pad is removed. An absorbent dressing that includes an inventive wound pad (13) is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5891076
Abstract: A hypertrophic scar dressing includes silicone-gel on that side of the dressing which lies against the user's skin when worn. A flexible carrier sheet (1) is embodied within the silicone-gel such that the gel forms continuous layers (2, 3) on both sides of the carrier material. The silicone-gel is tacky and skin-adherent and the dressing has a thickness of 0.2-1.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 5635201
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a wound dressing, and a wound dressing produced thereby. The upper surface of a perforated carrier material (2) is coated with a curable silicone mixture (3) and cold air is blown onto the underside of the coated carrier material. Heat is then applied to the silicone mixture until it has cured to a silicone gel.

  • Patent number: 5540922
Abstract: An absorbent wound dressing having a layer of hydrophobic silicone gel (3) which is intended to lie against the wound surface when the dressing is worn. A layer of carrier material (2; 7) carries the gel layer and affords the requisite strength thereto. An absorbent body (5) is placed on that side of the carrier material and gel layer which lie distal from the wound surface in use. The carrier material and the gel layer have mutually coinciding penetrating perforations (4) at least within the region of the absorbent body. A fluid barrier layer (6) is provided on that side of the dressing which lies distal from the wound surface in use.
