  • Publication number: 20210121361
Abstract: Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes controllable fluid pathways. One or more rotary piston pump/valves may be used to move fluid and/or gasses through the various fluid pathways of the cartridge. For example, the cartridge may include a dedicated rotary piston pump/valve for each process that moves fluid and/or gas through the cartridge. When turning, the rotary piston pump/valve acts as a pump to move the fluid or gas, and when the rotary piston pump/valve stops turning, it effectively acts as a shutoff valve, preventing any fluid flow. Magnetic couplers for the cartridge may be provided on a pump head of the compounder system.

  • Publication number: 20210077734
Abstract: Syringe assemblies are described herein. A syringe assembly includes an assembly housing, a first syringe, a second syringe, and a connecting gear. The first syringe is disposed within the assembly housing. Each plunger is movable within the respective syringe cavity and defines a respective chamber in the respective syringe cavity, wherein the respective chamber is in fluid communication with the respective syringe port, the respective plunger comprising a respective gear rack extending longitudinally along the respective plunger. The connecting gear is rotatably coupled to the assembly housing. The connecting gear is configured to be in meshed engagement with at least one of the first gear rack and the second gear rack of the syringes.

  • Publication number: 20210077711
Abstract: Syringe control assemblies are described herein. A syringe control assembly includes an assembly body, a first syringe, a second syringe, and a pump assembly. The first and second syringes are releasably coupled to a syringe mounting rack of the assembly body. The pump assembly includes a first pump unit and a second pump unit. Each pump unit is in fluid communication with each respective syringe. In a priming configuration, the first pump unit is configured to draw fluid flow from the first syringe cavity and the second pump unit is configured to pump fluid flow into the second syringe cavity.

  • Publication number: 20200268976
Abstract: Vented syringes are described herein. A vented syringe includes a syringe body and a plunger body. The syringe body defines a syringe cavity. The plunger body is at least partially disposed within the syringe cavity. The plunger body includes an air intake channel defined within the plunger body. The vented syringe further includes a plunger seal that is sealingly engaged with the syringe cavity to cooperatively define a syringe volume. The vented syringe further includes a one-way valve in fluid communication with the air intake channel and the syringe volume, wherein the one-way valve is configured to prevent fluid flow from the syringe volume to the air intake channel and permit fluid flow from the air intake channel to the syringe volume.

  • Publication number: 20200114071
Abstract: An exemplary syringe adapter for coupling with a syringe may include a housing. A needle-free connector may be disposed in the housing. A communication member may be in slidable engagement with the housing. The communication member may be slidable, with respect to the housing, between an unactuated state and an actuated state of the syringe adapter. A cannula may extend from the communication. In the unactuated state, the cannula may be retracted within the needle-free connector. In the actuated state, the cannula may protrude through and axially beyond the needle-free connector.

  • Publication number: 20200093698
Abstract: Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes fluid pathways controllable by valves of the cartridge. A pump component within the cartridge is actuable to move fluid through the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a needle extending from a cartridge body and fluidly coupled to at least one of the controllable fluid pathways. A vial puck is provided for attachment to a vial to be fluidly coupled to the cartridge by the needle. The vial puck may include a hydroscopic member to absorb fluid from the needle to ensure a dry disconnect. A shuttle valve may also be provided.

  • Publication number: 20200093697
Abstract: Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes fluid pathways controllable by valves of the cartridge. A pump component within the cartridge is actuable to move fluid through the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a needleless fluid port and a needleless vent port for fluid coupling to a vial via a vial puck. The vial puck includes corresponding needleless fluid and vent ports and a cannula. The cannula is extendible, by insertion of a protrusion on the cartridge into a shaft of the vial puck, into the vial to couple the vial to the needleless fluid and vent ports.
