  • Publication number: 20110011784
Abstract: The invention relates to a vessel for collecting petroleum products, in which an Archimedean screw (4) is used to collect spills, which vessel comprises a T-shaped hull with a central longitudinal narrow body (1) and a front transverse segment (3), said hull having no keel and being provided with a planar base, thereby conferring minimum draft thereon, of the order of 50 cm. The containers, which are independent of the hull (1), are mounted to either side of same and the relative height thereof can be varied in relation to the hull depending on the load level. In addition, each container can be removed in order to be emptied. Consequently the vessel can operate at beaches, ports, rias or any other low-draft areas.

  • Patent number: 7297259
Abstract: A device for cleaning up oil spills attachable to a ship for cleaning up crude, has a pair of arms coupleable to a side of a hull of the ship at a water line level, each of the arms having a casing with a substantial semi-circular configuration, and an open top, and a front edge extending into a baffle positioned downwards and forwards to facilitate access to floating crude into the casing, a containment partition projecting upwardly forwardly with a sufficient height to prevent the crude from rising above each of the arms, a screw housed in the casing and with its movement causing the crude to move, a collection tank arranged on an end of each of the arms and into which the crude is caused to move by the screw, the collection tank being connectable to the hull of the ship from where the crude is aspirated toward an inside of the ship.

  • Publication number: 20060201867
Abstract: Intended for being coupled to the hull of a ship on each of the sides thereof and close to its bow, this device consists of an arm (1) materialized in a casing (8) with an almost semi-cylindrical configuration, inside of which a screw (10) is housed that moves the crude towards the hull of the ship, a casing stiffened by means of a plurality of back brackets (13) and open towards the front and upwardly, the arm having a float (21) on its free end and ending on its inner end in a collection tank (3) where the screw (10) unloads, where a transmission mechanism (22) is arranged that drives said screw from within the ship, as well as a pipe connected to a suction pump also arranged in the ship. Thus, when the ship moves forward the crude enters inside the casing (8) and within it is moved longitudinally towards the tank (3) from where it is aspirated into the ship.
