Abstract: Improved method for the measurement of substance comprising simultaneously measuring a plurality of specimens of a substance to be measured by enzyme immunoassay. The process comprises:a. reacting specimens and a material which will be specifically combined with the substance to be measured and which has been made in the solid phase;b. separating the reaction mixture in step (a) into the solid phase and the liquid phase;c. reacting the solid phase with an enzyme-labelled product of a material which will be specifically combined with the substance to be measured;d. separating the reaction mixture in the step (c) into the solid phase and the liquid phase;e. reacting the solid phase or the liquid phase with a substrate for the enzyme in the step (c); andf. measuring the optical density of the reaction mixture.

Abstract: A process for producing an adult T cell leukemia associated antigen is disclosed wherein an adult T cell leukemia associated antigen producing cell is treated with a surfactant. A method for assaying adult T cell leukemia associated antibodies by enzymoimmunoassay, radioimmunoassay or passive hemagglutination is also disclosed. In this method, the adult T cell leukemia associated antigen obtained by treating the adult T cell leukemia associated antigen producing cells with a surfactant is used as the antigen in the assay procedure.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of a novel .alpha.-L antibody comprising immunizing an animal other than a human with the .alpha.-L antigen or .alpha.-L antigen/.alpha.-L antibody complex, and collecting antiserum from the animal; a method for the purification of .alpha.-L antigen comprising subjecting the material containing the .alpha.-L antigen to the density gradient centrifugation, and collecting a fraction having a buoyant density less than 1.1 g/ml; a reagent comprising .alpha.-L antigen; and a reagent comprising .alpha.-L antibody for detection of the .alpha.-L antigen and the .alpha.-L antibody, such detection being useful for the diagnosis of liver diseases and examination of the blood for blood transfusion.
