  • Patent number: 5143952
Abstract: A composite, molded article is prepared by forming a W/O emulsion containing a vinyl monomer, water, a cement, a polymerization initiator and an emulsifier, followed by molding and hardening. The emulsifier includes a neutralization product of an amide-containing amine with an organic sulfonic acid or an organic acid phosphate. The amide-containing amine is a condensation product obtained by reacting a fatty acid having 8-24 carbon atoms with an amino compound having the general formula (I) or (II):R.sup.1 R.sup.2 N[(CH.sub.2).sub.x --NH].sub.y H (I)R.sup.3 N[(CH.sub.2).sub.z NH.sub.2 ].sub.2 (II)wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 each represent, independently from each other, hydrogen, an alkyl group haaving 1-24 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 1-24 carbon atoms, x is an integer of 1-4, y is an integer of 1-8 and z is an integer of 1-4.

  • Patent number: 5037564
Abstract: A dispersing agent for use in dispersing a finely divided solid powder in a nonaqueous dispersion medium and a dispersion prepared by using the dispersing agent. The dispersing agent of this invention is a low acid value lanolin fatty acid and/or a salt of the same. By means of this dispersing agent, there can be easily obtained a homogeneous and stable nonaqueous dispersion from which the incorporated solid particles will not separate out or settle even on prolonged standing. Therefore, this dispersing agent can be used advantageously in a broad range of applications such as coatings, dyes, pigments, inks, fuels, lubricating materials and so on.

  • Patent number: 5034508
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispersant for nonaqueous systems which can disperse insoluble fine powders in nonaqueous liquids in a short period of time and give long-term dispersion stability to the resulting dispersions without allowing the formation of a so-called hard cake. The dispersant consists essentially of at least one polyether compound derived from at least one member of the class consisting of polyamine compounds having 5 to 300 active hydrogen atoms per molecule, polyalkylenimine compounds having 5 to 300 active hydrogen atoms per molecule, and derivatives thereof having 5 to 300 active hydrogen atoms per molecule by addition of at least one of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide and at least one alpha-olefin oxide containing 4 to 30 carbon atoms. The polyether compound has a molecular weight of 1,000 to 1,000,000.

  • Patent number: 4592759
Abstract: Coarse coal particles are pulverized to at least 70% passing through a standard 200 mesh screen in the presence of water in an amount to form aqueous coal slurries having a coal concentration from 60 to 80% by weight. The pulverization is carried out also in the presence of polyether typed polyoxyalkylene adducts having a high molecular weight with polyols having at least three active hydrogen atoms, phenol/aldehyde condensates of polyalkyleneimines, or derivatives of these adducts.
