  • Patent number: 6855398
Abstract: An object of the present invention is, by utilizing carbon fibers as its constituent material, to provide a thermal-acoustic insulation material having excellent properties in durability, compression resilience, lightness, fireproofness, and non-galvanic corrosiveness. The material of the present invention comprises a wool-like carbon fiber aggregate composed of carbon fibers having an average fiber diameter of 0.5 ?m to 5 ?m and an average fiber length of 1 mm to 15 mm and the contact points of the fibers are bonded together by a thermosetting resin. The galvanic current of the material is 10 ?A or lower in a galvanic cell comprising an electrode composed of the thermal-acoustic insulation material, the other electrode composed of an aluminum plate, and an electrolytic solution composed of 0.45 wt. % sodium chloride aqueous solution.

  • Patent number: 6555385
Abstract: A collector is provided which is capable of simultaneously capturing and collecting particulate and gaseous chlorinated organic compounds contained in a fluid. The collector 3 includes a housing 6 and a captor 7 disposed within the housing 6. The captor 7 includes a tubular porous core member 7a of a sintered glass having one end closed with a close member 7c, and a gas-permeable sheet 7b fitted around the core member 7a. The gas-permeable sheet 7b is, for example, a paper-like sheet having a fibrous activated carbon and inorganic fibers. The particulate and gaseous chlorinated organic compounds contained in a gas sample flowing into the captor through a sampling tube 2 are simultaneously collected and removed from the gas sample by the core member 7a and the gas-permeable sheet 7b, and the gas sample free from the chlorinated organic compounds is then discharged from an outlet port 6b.

  • Patent number: 5430293
Abstract: A gas visualizing apparatus includes an image sensor for detecting infrared light radiated or reflected from a background of a gas leak monitoring territory A, a laser source for emitting a detection infrared beam in two-dimensional form toward the gas leak monitoring territory A, the detection infrared beam having a wavelength absorbable by a gas "g" to be detected and a CRT for displaying information relating to gas leakage as a two-dimensional visible image corresponding to the gas leak monitoring territory A. The laser source includes a beam expander for converging or diverging the detection infrared beam to vary an area of the gas leak monitoring territory A. The image sensor includes a transmission and width varying device for setting the infrared light entering the image sensor to a band substantially centering on the wavelength of the detection infrared beam, and varying a width of the band, to realize an excellent visible image.

  • Patent number: 5368063
Abstract: A long heating pipe is laid along a conveyor pipe and in contact with the outer surface thereof. The heating pipe is provided with an outer tube which has an operating fluid hermetically contained therein, and a steam tube which is inserted through the outer tube. A container is provided to accumulate condensation created as a result of the liquefaction of vapor fed through the steam tube of the heating pipe. This container has a temperature sensing valve located therein. The temperature sensing valve is closed if the condensation within the container more rises in temperature than predetermined, and this valve is opened if the condensation within the container more decreases in temperature than predetermined. This temperature sensing valve is communicatively connected to the downstream side end portion of the steam tube of the heating pipe, which is inserted into the container.
