  • Patent number: 4812934
Abstract: In a magnetic disc device, it is necessary that a magnetic head be positioned above an object data track at a high speed and with a high accuracy. This positioning operation is carried out by an actuator. In order to carry out a magnetic head-positioning operation at a high speed and with a high accuracy, it is necessary that a driving force generated by a magnetic circuit be applied to the center of gravity of the actuator. The techniques according to the present invention are characerized in that the center of gravity of the actuator and the position to which the driving force is applied are aligned with each other by regulating the distribution or position of the magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit.

  • Patent number: 4661845
Abstract: An apparatus for directly monitoring microorganisms present in a liquid crises a window glass with one face in contact with the liquid. Near the other face is disposed a TV camera having an optical magnifying system for monitoring the microorganisms. A sample cell or a narrow space is formed on said one side of the window glass for direct introduction of a sample of the liquid. The sample is statically held in the cell even though the liquid is in movement. The sample is purged from the cell by feeding a cleaning fluid thereinto or by vibrating or otherside exerting physical movement on the cell, whereafter a new sample is introduced into the cell. Purging of the sample cleans the cell and is prevents it from being smudged with dregs, dirt or the like included in the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4655925
Abstract: A method of removing nitrogen and phosphorus from waste water by using an activated sludge including aerobic bacteria is disclosed. The waste water is fed continuously and gradually into a treatment basin in which the sludge is contained so that a mixed liquor consisting of the waste water and the sludge is formed therein. A cycle consisting of an agitating step and an aerating step is repeated at least two times and each cycle is finished within two hours, with the ratio of the agitating time to the aerating time being between one to one and to one. In the agitating step, the mixed liquor presents an anoxic condition and a succeeding anaerobic condition. Denitrification occurs in the anoxic condition and the aerobic bacteria release phosphorus in the anaerobic condition. During the aerating step, nitrification is caused while the bacteria excessively ingest phosphorus from the mixed liquor.

  • Patent number: 4549472
Abstract: The present invention relates to an air-conditioning and an environmental control device for manufacturing plants of integrated circuits, chemicals and foods, hospitals, etc. where clean air is required. In this environmental control device, controlled air blows out from one side and is absorbed into the other side of the room. The blowing surface and the absorbing surface are divided on the basis of the predetermined module. Ventilating units are formed in a suitable size to conform to the module. Because of the construction, the controlling system of temperature or cleanliness of the air in the environmental control room can be rearranged to an optional one by replacing or changing positions of the ventilating units. Even if a controlling system is rearranged to an optional one, the room should be divided into a supply chamber, a mixing chamber, an environmental control chamber and a return chamber from one side to the opposite side of the room, so that air conditioned can flow as required.

  • Patent number: 4515553
Abstract: The present invention relates to a combustion method for reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides. More particularly, the quick mixing of the air and fuel in the early stage of combustion is suppressed by setting the direction of fuel injection at an angle to the direction of the air stream axis and a position of a burner, in a preferable range resulting in the consequent effective use of a combustion exhaust gas, thereby minimizing the emission of nitrogen oxides to a great extent.

  • Patent number: 4490171
Abstract: A method for injecting a pulverized fuel into a blast furnace uses a pulverulent fuel injecting burner which is protruded into a blow pipe through a wall thereof near the tuyere of a blast furnace. The burner injects a pulverized fuel into the blast furnace along with a hot blast of air at a temperature higher than 950.degree. C. flowing through the blow pipe. The tip end of the burner is located at a distance L between 100 and 350 mm upstream from the boundary between the tuyere of the blast furnace and the blow pipe. According to one embodiment, the tip of the furnace is tapered by an angle .theta..ltoreq.1400L.sup.2 -1290L+295. According to a second embodiment, the inner diameter B.sub.1 of the blow pipe, and the inner and outer diameters of the burner tip (d and D) are selected such that 0.1.ltoreq.(D/Bi).ltoreq.0.25 and 0.6.ltoreq.(d/D).ltoreq.0.8. According to a third embodiment, the burner tip is removable.

  • Patent number: 4439137
Abstract: A method an apparatus for combustion with a minimum of NOx emission in various industrial furnaces and boilers. By injecting air for combustion into a furnace through the burner tile or air baffle in the deviated flow pattern asymmetrical with respect to the burner tile or baffle axis, the quick mixing of the air and fuel in early stages of combustion is suppressed to provide for a relatively gentle combustion and allow the burnt gas self-circulation to take place effectively, thereby minimizing the emission of nitrogen oxides.

  • Patent number: 4132475
Abstract: An apparatus for advancing a sheet and stopping it in a predetermined position including: a mechanism for transporting the sheet along a predetermined path and releasing the transporting force from being transmitted to the sheet in the course of advance; an insulating member positioned in the transporting path; and a charging device for charging the insulating member. The charging device charges the insulating member prior to the passing of the sheet over the insulating member by being transported by the transporting means. In addition, the transporting force is released from the sheet prior to the passing of the trailing edge of the sheet over the insulating member thus charged thereby precisely stopping the sheet in said predetermined position due to the electrostatic attracting force produced between the insulating member thus charged and the sheet.
