  • Patent number: 4674997
Abstract: Packing paper receiving and folding method and apparatus are disclosed. The method has the steps of receiving and supporting a packing paper through an opening portion defined between suction arms of a suction ring; moving an arbor into the suction ring accompanying packing paper folded in a U-shape through the opening portion; effecting body folding of the packing paper using the arbor as a core member; and effecting flaps folding within the suction ring while properly maintaining the state of the body folding. The apparatus has a rotatable suction ring including a bracket, a pair of suction arms pivotable with respect to the bracket, the other ends of the suction arms defining an opening portion therebetween so that an arbor can enter therethrough, folding claws mounted on the insides of the suction arms and a bottom clamp positioned in the opening portion; a U-clamp provided within the suction ring for body folding; and a seaming clamp approaching to and departing from the arbor.

  • Patent number: 4636184
Abstract: An arbor guiding apparatus is disclosed. It has a plurality of arbors arranged at least in two rows of arbors and in tandem on a rotary packing drum with respect to its axial direction. It also has a guiding device of the arbors in the radial direction. The guiding device includes supporting members axially supporting the arbors as well as connecting rods. One of the connecting rods include a threeway shaft at its one end, one way of the shaft being for engagement with a cam follower for guiding the arbor in the first arbor row while another way of the shaft being for engagement with a cam follower for guiding the arbor in the second arbor row. It further includes a device for effecting a relative movement of the arbors in the first and second arbor rows. The relative movement device essentially includes a pinion interposed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4631904
Abstract: An apparatus for compressing cigarettes comprises a compression pocket having opposite open ends which comprises a pair of L-shaped compression members which are disposed in an opposite manner. Each member includes short and long segments which extend in an axial direction of a continuously rotatable drum, one of the members being movable in a tangential direction of the outer circumference of the drum, the other member being movable in a direction at an desired angle relative to said tangential direction. The apparatus also includes a device for moving the pair of L-shaped compression members in opposite directions using a rack and pinion combination system.

  • Patent number: 4616475
Abstract: A package forming apparatus comprises a pushing member which is capable of being inserted into a core member to form the bottom of a package by folding an end portion of the sheet material wound on the core member is driven by a driving mechanism. The driving mechanism comprises a slidable shaft provided on a rotary drum for movement in axial direction thereof, an arm member having one end secured to one end of the sliding shaft, a socket member having an intermediate portion rotatably supported at the other end of the arm member, a crank arm having one end secured to one end of the socket, the other end of the extension shaft being secured to the other end of the socket member and coupling member for snap coupling together the arm member and crank arm at a predetermined rotational position. Thus, the pushing member may be movable between the position where it faces with the core member and the position where it does not face the same.

  • Patent number: 4614263
Abstract: A cigarette arranging apparatus is disclosed. It has an arranging drum including a plurality of arcuate grooves arranged in its periphery, the grooves being extended in the axial direction and intimately contacted each other in the circumferential direction, and a plurality of cigarette receiving rollers near to the upper outer periphery of the arranging drum. The number of the cigarette receiving rollers corresponds to that of the arcuate grooves. The cigarette receiving rollers are arranged each to receive one piece of cigarette out of the plurality of cigarette pieces. The arranging drum and the cigarette receiving rollers are rotated in the opposite directions each other. The rollers are arranged to send cigarette pieces into the grooves successively from the forward grooves till the backward grooves without changing the motion speed to arrange cigarette groups intimately contacted each other.
