  • Patent number: 9562280
Abstract: The present invention concerns a thermally sprayed coating, which has been applied onto the surface of the substrate as a lamellar coating. This coating is formed from a completely or partially plastisized or melted solid starting material, preferably being completely plastisized, which material contains at least one component that is capable or reacting with corroding substances and combining with them to form one or more solid product compounds. The invention also concerns the uses of such a coating and a process for producing such a coating.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 2012
Date of Patent: February 7, 2017
    Assignee: Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus VTT
    Inventors: Tomi Suhonen, Tommi Varis
  • Publication number: 20160312349
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preventing the oxidation of metals in thermal spraying by coating the metallic powders to be used with nanocarbides, to a coating achieved using the method as well as to a method for treating the metal powder with nanocarbides. The methods according to the invention are suitable for all metal powders used in thermal spraying and, as the invention enables the use of cheaper materials, they are economically extremely advantageous.

  • Patent number: 9175169
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of producing an oxide coating, wherein an oxide or oxide composite composition is manufactured, then heated and, finally, sprayed onto a substrate by a thermal spraying process into a completely amorphous coating. The invention also relates to such a completely amorphous coating and to a substrate equipped with such a coating.

  • Publication number: 20110076414
Abstract: A process for applying a bonding primer layer for a protective ceramic layer on a component surface by high-velocity flame spraying is proposed. A coating material in the foam of at least one metal alloy powder is at least partially melted and is applied as particle stream with high velocity to the component surface. The coating material has two powder fractions that have a fine particle size and a coarse particle size. The coating material comprises an agglomerated and sintered powder.
