  • Patent number: 6990344
Abstract: A method and an arrangement in a cellular radio communication network for preparing a measurement order list for transmission to a mobile station operating in a first cell. It is determined (502) whether at least one cell among the neighbouring cells is incapable of acting as a target for handoff of the mobile station. If at least one cell incapable of acting as a target for handoff is found, at least one control channel associated with such a cell is omitted when generating (503) said list by including control channels associated with neighbouring cells.

  • Patent number: 6973317
Abstract: A callback service for completing a call from a calling party to a mobile station of a called party that was not previously completed due to no response. After the call was not completed due to no response, the mobile station is monitored to determine if it has moved, and when movement is determined to have occurred, a callback is initiated between the calling party and the called party. The movement is a good indication that the called party has moved the mobile station and may therefore be available to receive the call. The movement of the mobile station is preferably determined by detecting that the mobile station has changed its location utilizing mobile positioning technology. The service will generally result in more calls being completed and in their being completed in less time.

  • Patent number: 6662008
Abstract: A technique for testing a communication system involves establishing a Test System Identification value (TSID value) to represent a test system and associated test activity within the communication system. Mobile stations which are members of the test system are allowed access to test resources in the communication system. In a first embodiment, to provide access to the test resources, the test system can broadcast the TSID value on a control channel. A mobile station receives the control channel and compares the broadcast TSID value with numeric information stored in its internal memory. Upon a match, the mobile station is permitted to camp on the control channel of the test system and use its resources. In a second embodiment, the mobile station may gain access to test resources by broadcasting its TSID value to higher-level nodes of the communication system.

  • Patent number: 6631270
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a call completion service in a wireless communication system are described. A call attempt is completed between a calling party and a called party encountering congestion in a respective cell, by storing information related to the call attempt, monitoring a congestion level and setting up a call to complete the call attempt when traffic channels are available provided the parties are still within the cell coverage area. A predetermined number of available traffic channels may be required so as to prevent further congestion caused call completion. When determining that the called or calling party is within a new cell, congestion level is determined in the new cell and the call is completed if congestion levels are favorable. When the call can be set up the calling party is contacted and confirmation requested.
