  • Patent number: 6805317
Abstract: A device is provided for winding paper in which the paper web running is supported by a reel drum and wound onto exchangeable reel shafts in contact with the reel drum in order to form rolls of paper. The device applies a heated adhesive agent on the web and/or on the reel shaft onto which the web is to be wound. A spray rack is mounted on the stand of the reel-up, upstream of the reel drum and extending transversely to the machine direction, or alternatively, is mounted in various other locations of the reel-up. A hopper with a heater heats the heated adhesive agent to temporarily lower its viscosity and stickiness for smooth and even spraying. A series of nozzles are mounted on the rack spaced across the width of the web to spread spray jets of liquid containing said heated adhesive onto the web and/or the reel shaft. The adhesive area thus is disposed between the web and the empty reel shaft so as to facilitate initiating the winding process.

  • Patent number: 6176975
Abstract: A headbox in a paper machine, which headbox has a stock outlet for a jet of stock having a specific length, angle of impact and point of encounter in relation to a nip in the wet section of the paper machine, which headbox has two stand parts, lifting arms with front and rear journalling means and a device for setting the position and alignment of the headbox so that the stock jet obtains said specific length, angle of impact and point of encounter, which setting device has two actuators mounted pivotably at the rear Journalling means of the lifting arms and at the stand parts, whereby the headbox is adjustable by means of a turning movement about said front bearing means of the lifting arms.

  • Patent number: 6145778
Abstract: A reel-up for reeling a paper web onto reeling drums (2), comprising stand parts (5) with rails (9), along which the reeling drums (2), rotatably carried by their bearing housings (4), are displaced, a surface winding drum, over which the paper web runs and which is rotatably journalled in bearing housings (13) on the stand parts, a secondary system, and a primary system, having primary arms (24) with gripping members (33) for retaining a reeling drum (2), which primary arms have actuators (28) for moving the reeling drum (2) along the envelope surface of the surface winding drum.

  • Patent number: 6045085
Abstract: A device is provided in a reel-up in a paper machine in which paper is produced in a web running in the reel-up and supported by a surface winding drum and wound onto exchangeable reeling drums in contact with the surface winding drum in order to form reels of paper. The device applies an adhesive agent on the web when changing full-width reels and in the event of web ruptures in the reel-up. A screen is mounted on the stand of the reel-up, upstream of the surface winding drum, and extending transversely to the machine direction. A spray rack, supported by the screen, extends transversely to the web across its entire width and comprises a plurality of nozzles distributed uniformly across the web to spread spray jets of liquid containing said adhesive agent onto the web to form a coherent adhesive area perpendicular to the machine direction. The adhesive area is brought into contact with an empty reeling drum or an already commenced reel of paper.
