  • Patent number: 9004155
Abstract: Passive completion optimization with fluid loss control. A completion string includes a set of well tools interconnected as a portion of the completion string, the well tools including a well screen assembly, at least one valve which controls fluid communication between an interior and exterior of the string, and two packer assemblies, each of the packer assemblies including at least one swellable seal element, and the packer assemblies longitudinally straddling the valve and the screen assembly. Another completion string includes a set of well tools interconnected as a portion of the completion string, the well tools including two packer assemblies, a well screen assembly, and the screen assembly including an inflow control device which restricts fluid flow through the screen assembly, each of the packer assemblies including a swellable seal element, and the packer assemblies longitudinally straddling the screen assembly.

  • Patent number: 5253705
Abstract: A well packer isolation system (10) for use in hostile, corrosive environments is disclosed that comprises packer top sub (20), packer mandrel (22), setting sleeve (24), top slip support (26), slip (28), wedge (30), packer elements (32A, 32B, 32C), packer bottom sub (34), and shear pins (36, 38, 40, 42). As packer system (10) is run into an existing polished bore receptacle (12) using running tool (14), bottom sub (34) no-goes against PBR adapter sub (76). When sufficient setting pressure is exerted on setting sleeve (24) by running tool (14), shear pins (36, 38, 40) are sheared, packer elements (32A, 32B, 32C) are longitudinally compressed and radially expanded, and slip (28) engages inside wall (56) of PBR (12). Running tool (14) is withdrawn after packer system (10) is set by upwardly shearing shear pins (42).

  • Patent number: 5181569
Abstract: In the disclosed pressure operated valve, a sleeve valve controlling flow between outside and inside the valve is releasably connected in a housing when the sleeve valve is in open position. Pressure on a ball sealingly engaging the sleeve valve operates the sleeve valve from open to latched closed to disconnect positions and expends the sleeve valve from the housing.
