    Abstract: The invention provides a method for easily and efficiently extracting chemical components from wood treated with a chemical containing copper, and thereby detoxifying the wood. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for detoxifying wood comprising immersing, in an aqueous solution of at least one alkali metal carboxylate selected from the group consisting of alkali metal monocarboxylates and alkali metal dicarboxylates, wood treated with a chemical containing copper, to extract the chemical component from the treated wood.
