Patent number: 7878315Abstract: A spring clutch is provided for which durability is improved by preventing a clutch spring from breaking due to fatigue. A cylindrical clutch spring made from a wire having a square section is mounted between a pulley and a pulley hub mounted in the pulley. An end of the clutch spring is coupled to the pulley hub. A clutch surface is formed on the inner periphery of the pulley and is formed with a large-diameter recess at a position opposite to the end portion of the clutch spring including the torque transmission end. When the pulley rotates in one direction, the clutch spring expands. At this time, the end portion of the clutch spring including the torque transmission end expands in the large-diameter recess, thus relaxing sharp torque produced in the clutch. This prevents local stress concentration on the clutch spring and breakage of the clutch spring and improves the durability of the clutch.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2007Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Takahide Saito, Masafumi Nakakoji, Katsumi Furutani, Koji Akiyoshi, Tomoaki Makino

Publication number: 20100320043Abstract: An object is to make it possible to stably transmit torque of the rotary shaft to the respective planetary rollers without applying a preload to the planetary rollers with a negative gap between the radially outer surface of the rotary shaft and the radially inner surface of the outer ring member. Planetary rollers 7 rotatably supported on their radially inner surfaces by respective support pins 6b are radially inwardly biased by radially compressible ring springs 18 enveloping the support pins 6b, thereby biasing and pressing the respective planetary rollers 7 against the radially outer surface of a rotary shaft 4. Thus, it is possible to stably transmit torque of the rotary shaft 4 to the respective planetary rollers 7 without applying a preload to the planetary rollers 7 with a negative gap between the radially outer surface of the rotary shaft 4 and the radially inner surface of the outer ring member 5.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2009Publication date: December 23, 2010Inventors: Tatsuya Yamasaki, Masaaki Eguchi, Katsuhisa Yamaguchi, Tomoaki Makino

Patent number: 6831657Abstract: Musical sound signal is input to an electronic volume control unit, which in turn adjusts the gain of the input musical signal and outputs the resultant gain-adjusted signal to an amplifier. CPU supplies the electronic volume control unit with a sound volume setting level corresponding to an output of a rotary encoder. At the same time, the CPU generates, with reference to stored data of a ROM table, a hue control signal for changing a displaying hue of a three-color light-emitting diode in accordance with the sound volume setting level supplied by the CPU. The CPU takes in a current sound volume setting level when an upper-limit setting switch is activated, and it retains the taken-in level as an upper limit value of various sound volume setting levels that are to be used to change the displaying hue of the light-emitting diode between purple and red hues. As the sound volume setting level is changed from zero to the upper limit value, the displaying hue changes in a stepwise manner.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2002Date of Patent: December 14, 2004Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventors: Kazumasu Tsutsumi, Hajime Asahira, Tomoaki Makino, Hiroyuki Fujita

Patent number: 5851163Abstract: Plating 5 having good slide friction characteristics is applied onto the pocket surfaces 4a1, 4a2, which are opposite each other in the circumferential direction of the pockets 4a of the carrier and onto the end face 4a3 in the axial direction. It is possible to improve the lubrication conditions at the contacting area of the outer circumferential surface of the planetary rollers and the pocket surface 4a1 of the carrier 4 by coating the plating 5 having good slide friction characteristics onto the pocket surfaces 4a1,4a2 of the pocket 4 of the carrier 4 and further onto the end face 4a3. That is, the friction force at the contacting area is able to be decreased by the plating 5 having good friction characteristics, whereby even in a case where the contacting area is lubricated with a little lubricant, thermal deterioration of the lubricant due to heat generation of the contacting area is suppressed and good lubrication actions can be expected.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1997Date of Patent: December 22, 1998Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Tatsuo Kawase, Takashi Nozaki, Tomoaki Makino, Satoshi Utsunomiya

Patent number: 5746676Abstract: A friction type continuously variable transmission has double cones kept in contact with an input shaft and a drive cone and is capable of transmitting the rotation of the input shaft to an output shaft so that the output shaft rotates at a higher speed than the input shaft. A mechanism is provided for preventing the double cones from rotating about the input shaft and from coming off of their support shafts. A stay is mounted on a carrier supporting the double cones. The stay carries a guide roller bearing received in a guide fixed to a housing of the transmission. The stay thus prevents the rotation of the carrier while allowing only its axial movement. A stopper surface is provided at one end of the guide to restrict the axial movement of the carrier within a predetermined range.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1996Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Tatsuo Kawase, Naoshi Hattori, Takashi Nozaki, Tomoaki Makino, Takahide Saito
