Abstract: A pattern generation device includes: a dot pattern generation circuit that generates, with dots each including one pixel and/or a plurality of connected pixels, a tint block pattern by using an adjacent dot pattern to a reproduced pattern where the dots are reproduced when copied and a non-reproduced pattern where the dots are unlikely to be reproduced when copied as compared with in the reproduced pattern; and an output circuit that provides the generated tint block pattern to a printing unit that prints an image, in which the reproduced pattern includes an effective large dot region where the dispersed dots are arranged at a higher space density than in the non-reproduced pattern.
