Abstract: A display device includes a display panel having display pixels arranged in a matrix, and a display area capable of displaying in color. A display mode of the display panel is switched to either a full-screen display mode in which an image is displayed in the entire display area or a partial display mode in which an image is only partially displayed in the display area. The display area of the display panel is set while dividing the display area into a partial display area in which an image is displayed and a background display area in which an image is not displayed in the partial display mode. An image is displayed in the partial display area. A display color of the background display area is set.
