  • Patent number: 7984487
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing system, and an information processing apparatus and method in which authentication processing on a network can be easily performed. A setting terminal device sends registration information input by a user to a CE-device registration setting server. The CE-device registration setting server generates connection information for connecting CE devices to the Internet based on the registration information. The setting terminal device receives the connection information from the CE-device registration setting server and stores it in a memory card. When the memory card is attached, the CE device reads the connection information so as to connect to a network. The present invention can be applied to electronic devices connected to a network.

  • Patent number: 7730304
Abstract: A CE apparatus (9) is a terminal capable of including apparatus authentication information therein with a high degree of safety. A management server (7) encrypts apparatus authentication information and transmits the encrypted apparatus authentication information to a factory (5). A factory worker links a connection means (10) to a connector of the CE apparatus (9). The encrypted apparatus authentication information transmitted by the management server (7) to the factory (5) is supplied to the CE apparatus (9) in a state of being encrypted as it is by way of the connection means (10). The CE apparatus (9) includes an embedded write module for decrypting the encrypted apparatus authentication information and storing the apparatus authentication information in a storage unit. That is to say, the apparatus authentication information supplied by way of the connection means (10) is decrypted by the write module and stored in the storage unit employed in the CE apparatus (9).

  • Patent number: 7454780
Abstract: This invention relates to a service providing system and a service providing method for allowing users to receive a service from a service server without having to submit their security-critical information to that server. A CE device 1 requests provision of the service by transmitting authentication information such as a device ID to a surrogate authentication server 2. The surrogate authentication server 2 authenticates the CE device 1 based on the authentication information and transmits a result of the authentication to the service server 3. In turn, the service server 3 provides the CE device 1 with the requested service based on the result of the authentication received from the surrogate authentication server 2. The CE device 1 then uses the service provided by the service server 3. This system can be applied advantageously to network-based marketing systems.

  • Publication number: 20040205201
Abstract: Upon being connected to a modem, a router gains access to a broadband access server. The router is then authenticated by a RADIUS server, and is then device authenticated by a device authentication server. The router then acquires, from an ISP download server, setting information that is required for connection to an ISP server. The router then sets the acquired setting information in the router itself, and based on the setting information, the router connects to the ISP server, and then acquires HTML on a WEB page over the Internet through the ISP sever. A user is free from time and operation required to input the setting information to the router. The present invention is applied to a variety of electronic devices connected to a network.
