  • Publication number: 20170371587
Abstract: In a computer system, when a first high availability (HA) pair is configured with a first logical device of a first storage apparatus and a second logical device of a second storage apparatus, the first logical device is virtualized on a third storage apparatus and is set to correspond with a third logical device of the third storage apparatus. A fourth storage apparatus virtualizes the second logical device and sets the second logical device to correspond with a fourth logical device of the fourth storage apparatus. After a second HA pair is configured with the third logical device and the fourth logical device, the data on the first logical device is migrated to the third storage apparatus and managed as data on the third logical device. • Publication number: 20170277443
Abstract: Saving a capacity of an on-premises storage apparatus, a high access performance of the on-premises storage apparatus, and resuming an operation quickly and accurately by using data on a cloud when a resource in the on-premises fails are achieved. A processor provides a first volume which is a virtual volume, and configures a copy pair of the first volume and a second volume provided from another storage system. Write data to the first volume is transferred to the second volume via a network, based on the copy pair. The processor writes to the memory a part of data written to the second volume, and writes to the storage device the data written to the memory.

  • Patent number: 9652165
Abstract: Regardless of which of the multiple storage subsystems provided with the same identification information is accessed from a plurality of host computers, multiple volumes provided with the same identification information among the storage subsystems are subjected to extent exclusion sharing. Therefore, a multiplex volume provided with the same identification information among the plurality of storage subsystems and a first storage subsystem for processing input/output requests by the channel command to the multiplex volume are provided, wherein if the channel command received from the host computer or via a control unit of a second storage subsystem is an input/output request of the multiplex volume, a control unit of the first storage subsystem determines the access authority regarding an extent range of the multiplex volume designated by the channel command, based on information on whether an input/output processing regarding the extent range is already executed based on another request.

  • Patent number: 9632701
Abstract: A storage system includes a first storage apparatus including a first logical volume and a second storage apparatus including a second logical volume. The first and second logical volumes are set as a High Availability pair and associated with a virtual volume. When receiving a write request to the virtual volume, the storage system manages storage area in the first logical volume regarding to the write request as storage area during data duplication, writes data in duplicate, in order from the first logical volume to the second logical volume. When receiving a read request to the virtual volume, the first storage apparatus waits for completion of the data duplication and reads data from the first logical volume if the storage area is during the data duplication, and the first storage apparatus reads data from the first logical volume if the storage area is not during the data duplication.

  • Publication number: 20170083417
Abstract: A storage subsystem comprises one or more volumes, and multiple nodes having multiple control packages interconnected via an intra-node communication path, wherein the control packages of different nodes are interconnected via an inter-node communication path having a lower transmission path capacity than the intra-node communication path. When the host computer accesses a volume, access is enabled via any of at least two or more control packages out of the multiple control packages, and the priority for issuing access requests to the relevant volume is determined in each of the control packages. When the storage subsystem detects failure, it changes the priorities determined for the control packages according to the failure occurrence portion, and notifies the same to the host computer. The host computer determines the control package being the issue destination of the access request based on the notified priority.

  • Publication number: 20170060478
Abstract: A processor receives a command from a server computer to designate a plurality of addresses related to a plurality of logical storage areas, and write a plurality of write data to the logical storage areas. The processor receives the write data and writes it to storage areas different from storage areas in which a plurality of holding data are stored in a first memory. When the processor determines that the write data are written to the first memory, the processor transmits a success response to a host computer. When the write data satisfy a predetermined condition, the processor writes the write data in the first memory to a plurality of first device storage areas. When it is determined that at least a part of the data is not written to the first memory, the processor transmits a failure response to the host computer.

  • Publication number: 20170038995
Abstract: A storage system comprises multiple storage apparatuses and the multiple storage apparatuses provide a host system with a virtual volume in which multiple logical volumes are virtualized into one. When a first storage apparatus has detected a first event, the first storage apparatus changes the status of a first resource. Thereafter, the first storage apparatus sends a notice of the status change with respect to a first logical volume to a second storage apparatus comprising a second logical volume which is the basis of a virtual volume associated with the first logical volume, when the first storage apparatus has detected a second event which signifies that the host system is informed, in the future, of the status of the first resource. The second storage apparatus receives the notice and configures the status change based on the received notice.

  • Publication number: 20170017403
Abstract: A storage system creates an HA configuration in a virtual storage composed of resources of first and second storage subsystems. A user of the virtual storage selects a replication destination volume (second logical volume) of a first logical volume of the first storage subsystem that the user wishes to duplicate from the second storage. At this time, only a logical volume not recognized from a host is selectable as the second logical volume. When data duplication between the first logical volume and the second logical volume is started, the second storage subsystem sets an identification number of the second logical volume to be the same as the identification number of the first logical volume. Thereafter, at the point of time when duplication is completed, the second storage changes the setting of the second logical volume so that the second logical volume can be recognized from the host.

  • Publication number: 20170017421
Abstract: A storage system according to one preferred embodiment of the present invention is composed of at least a first storage subsystem and a second storage subsystem. Write data from a host computer is duplicated to a first volume of the first storage subsystem and a second volume of the second storage subsystem, and the host computer is composed to be able to access both the first volume and the second volume. Attribute information which is information related to an order of write and/or write capability is set for each volume, and when an access command to the volume is received from the host computer, the storage subsystem determines whether I/O to the first volume and/or the second volume is required or not based on the attribute set for each volume.

  • Publication number: 20170010839
Abstract: The access from a host computer to a storage system is continued before and after data migration in the storage system. A first controller allocates a first logical storage area to a specific virtual storage area, stores first association information indicating the specific virtual storage area and the first logical storage area, and sends the first association information to the host computer. The first controller and the second controller perform data migration from the first logical storage area to a second logical storage area. The first controller releases the first logical storage area from the specific virtual storage area and reflects the release in the first association information. The second controller allocates the second logical storage area to the specific virtual storage area, stores second association information indicating the specific virtual storage area and the second logical storage area, and sends the second association information to the host computer.
