  • Patent number: 11340397
Abstract: Provided is a mode controller which includes an optical fiber coupled body and at least one pair of bobbins, and the mode controller is configured so that: the one pair of bobbins includes two bobbins arranged, spaced from one another; the optical fiber coupled body includes a step-index fiber and a graded-index fiber, which are coupled with each other; the step-index fiber and/or the graded-index fiber is/are wound around the at least one pair of bobbins, and twisted to form a helical area(s); light is launched into the step-index fiber, propagates through the step-index fiber, is emitted from the step-index fiber, and is launched into the graded-index fiber; propagation mode of the light is converted to an equilibrium mode distribution during the propagation of the light through the step-index fiber; and the propagation mode of the light launched into the graded-index fiber is converted to a low-order mode.

  • Patent number: 7792397
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a technique for accurately transmitting information, wherein optical signals are the medium of information, between circuit boards. A holding member 10 taught in the present specification holds a plurality of circuit boards 20 with a predetermined distance therebetween, and provides an optical communication path between the circuit boards 20. The holding member 10 comprises a body 15 and an optical waveguide 12 that penetrates the body 15. The holding member 10 further comprises a light receiving portion 50 and a light emitting portion 40. By means of the holding member 10, an optical signal emitted at one circuit board 20 and received at an other circuit board 20 travels along the optical waveguide 12 of the holding member 10.

  • Patent number: 6238104
Abstract: The present invention provides a fiber optic connector which allows easy and secure assembly with a fiber optic cable, a supporting member used therein, and a method of assembling the fiber optic connector to the fiber optic cable. A member (41) which is used to fasten reinforcing members (105) extending from the fiber optic cable (100) is disposed in the vicinity of a rear end of an inner housing (40) of fiber optic connector (10). A supporting member (50) is fastened by crimping to an end portion of the fiber optic cable (100). An appropriate stripping operation is performed on the end portion of the fiber optic cable (100) so that optical fiber (150) and the reinforcing members (105) are exposed. Recesses (55a, 55b), which hold the reinforcing members are located in the supporting member (50).
