  • Publication number: 20120314552
Abstract: An optical disc apparatus includes an optical pickup, a signal generation section which generates a control signal from an electrical signal, and a main control section which controls the optical pickup such that, during a spin-up operation of an optical disc, the optical disc is discriminated to be a multiple-layer disc with three or more layers and address information is successfully acquired from the optical disc, the optical pickup irradiates the optical disc with a light beam at a light emission power for a multiple-layer disc with three or more layers. However, if disc information is not successfully acquired, the main control section controls the optical pickup to try again to acquire the disc information at the light emission power for a multiple-layer disc with three or more layers.

  • Patent number: 8036083
Abstract: This optical disk device includes an examination means which examines a first physical characteristic of an optical disk, and a servo means which starts servo control based upon that first physical characteristic. This optical disk device includes a read means which incorporates the examination means, and which reads type information from the optical disk under that servo control based upon the first physical characteristic. This optical disk device includes a control means which decides whether or not a second physical characteristic of the optical disk, which is determined as a standard for the type of type information read, and the first physical characteristic, agree with one another. And, if the control means has decided that these two physical characteristics do not agree with one another, it commands the read means to read replay data from the optical disk, under that servo control based upon the first physical characteristic.

  • Patent number: 7394741
Abstract: An optical disc reading and reproducing apparatus includes reading means for reading data recorded on an optical disc by applying laser light through an objective lens and detecting its reflected light, focus control means for performing focus control for moving the objective lens based on a focus error signal indicating an amount of deviation of a focusing position, focus bias adjustment means for adjusting a focus bias used in the focus control to a voltage in which amplitude of an acquired RF signal is maximized, and detection means for detecting that the amplitude becomes smaller than a predetermined threshold level. The focus bias adjustment means samples the RF signal and acquires the amplitude, sets the focus bias to the amount in which the amplitude of the RF signal is maximized, and stops sampling of the RF signal when the amplitude is detected to be smaller than the predetermined threshold level.

When a difference between addresses of a focus bias adjustment information and at which data is read exceeds a predetermined amount, and amplitude of the RF signal is smaller than the amplitude of the RF signal stored, the focus bias is readjusted and the stored focus bias adjustment information is updated to the amplitude of the RF signal after this readjustment and the address of the track to which the focus bias is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4985680
Abstract: An RF coil system having (2n+1)/4 (n: zero or a positive integer) wavelength cables arranged in both ends of a PIN diode conneted in series with an RF coil, and a PIN diode is DC-biased via the aforementioned cable. A multi-band RF system constructed by providing a plurality of such wavelength cables corresponding to the frequencies of an RF pulse in obtaining an MR signal. Since the cable is, for example, of a coaxial type, the length of the cable is easy to adjust and it is thus possible to avoid coupling to the ambient environment.

  • Patent number: 4862086
Abstract: In an MRI apparatus, a static magnetic field is generated by a pair of magnets facing each other within a spacing. An axis direction of a subject inserted within the spacing is orthogonal to that of the static magnetic field. Gradient magnetic fields with X, Y and Z direction are generated by two pairs of plane coils, two pairs of plane coils, and a pair of plane coils, respectively, arranged between a pair of magnets. The plane coils for generated the gradient magnetic field in X direction is the same form as the plane coils for generating the gradient magnetic field in Z direction. By such an arrangement, gradient magnetic fields generated within the spacing have enough magnitude and linearity to obtain magnetic resonance signals. It is also enough spacing to insert a subject.

  • Patent number: 4656737
Abstract: A method and apparatus for loading film into film cartridges having an improved throughput rate. Caps, spools and shell plates are supplied simultaneously with the winding of film. Film is wound onto spools while the spools are held. Shell plates are held with a shell plate chuck in such a manner that the shell plate is half open. Spools on which film has been wound are inserted into corresponding half-open shell plates, after which the shell plates are shaped as required. Caps are then fitted onto both open ends of the shell plate.
