  • Patent number: 10776278
Abstract: A storing unit stores therein mapping management information indicating mappings between each of a plurality of divided regions created by dividing logical storage space on a storage apparatus and one of a plurality of identification numbers each representing a different write frequency. A control unit measures the write frequency of each of the plurality of divided regions and updates the mappings indicated by the mapping management information based on results of the write frequency measurement. Upon request for a data write to a write address included in a divided region after the update of the mappings, the control unit identifies an identification number associated with the divided region based on the mapping management information, appends the identified identification number to a write request for the write address, and transmits the write request with the identified identification number appended thereto to the storage apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20140146450
Abstract: An electronic device includes a power supply line configured to supply power to a mechanical section within a case and a connection terminal coupled to the power supply line, wherein the connection terminal is disposed to be opposed to a power exchange terminal of another electronic device disposed on one side surface of the case and engaged with the power exchange terminal to perform a power exchange.

  • Publication number: 20090236216
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a thin film magnetic head is capable of forming a gap depth at high precision. The method includes: a step of forming, on a lower front end magnetic pole of a recording head unit that constructs the thin film magnetic head, a resist layer that has a shape where, in a cross section in a recording track direction and a head height direction, a length in the head height direction increases from a lower part of the resist layer toward an upper part; and a step of lifting off that forms a gap depth setting layer by sputtering on an insulating layer that is adjacent to the lower front end magnetic pole and on the resist layer and then carries out a lift off process that removes the resist layer and leaves the gap depth setting layer in a predetermined form.

  • Publication number: 20090168261
Abstract: A magnetoresistive element is located between a lower shielding layer and an upper shielding layer. The magnetoresistive element receives an electric current through the lower shielding layer and the upper shielding layer. A non-magnetic conductive layer is embedded in the insulating film between the slider body and the lower shielding layer. An air layer is formed between the head slider and a storage medium. Capacitive coupling is established between the head slider and the storage medium. The capacitive coupling allows transmission of the noise from the storage medium to the slider body. The noise affects capacitance established between the lower shielding layer and the slider body. The non-magnetic conductive layer serves to prevent variation in a potential difference resulting from transmission of the noise between the lower shielding layer and the upper shielding layer.

  • Publication number: 20080171232
Abstract: In the magnetic head, a lower shielding layer and an upper shielding layer of a read-head and a lower magnetic pole of a write-head are electrically connected to a substrate so as to prevent damage of an MR element caused by static electricity and so as not to badly influence reading characteristics of a read-head. The magnetic head comprises: a read-head having a lower shielding layer and an upper shielding layer, which are electrically connected to a substrate via a shunt resistance; and a write-head having a lower magnetic pole, which is electrically connected to the substrate via the shunt resistance, wherein the lower shielding layer and the upper shielding layer are electrically connected to the substrate via a conductive layer, and the lower magnetic pole is electrically connected to the substrate via a conductive layer, which is formed as a base layer of the lower magnetic pole.

  • Publication number: 20070297096
Abstract: In the magnetic head, characteristics of a read-element is not badly influenced by external electromagnetic waves, and the magnetic head is highly resistant to external electromagnetic waves. The magnetic head comprises: a write-head; a read-head having a read-element, which is grounded to a substrate via a resistance; and an electromagnetic wave shielding layer covering over a resistance area, in which the resistance is formed.
