  • Publication number: 20150071829
Abstract: A honeycomb filter includes a honeycomb fired body made of silicon carbide particles. The honeycomb fired body includes cell walls, a peripheral wall, and a silicon-containing oxide layer. The cell walls are to define cells placed in a longitudinal direction of the honeycomb fired body. The cell walls have a thickness of about 0.2 mm or less. Each of the cells has a first end portion and a second end portion opposite to the first end portion in the longitudinal direction. Either the first end portion or the second end portion of the each of the cells is sealed. The peripheral wall constitutes a periphery of the honeycomb fired body. The peripheral wall has a thickness larger than the thickness of the cell walls. The silicon-containing oxide layer is provided on surfaces of the silicon carbide particles.

  • Publication number: 20080292843
Abstract: A honeycomb structure is a pillar-shaped honeycomb structure in which a plurality of cells, separated from each other by a cell wall, are formed in a longitudinal direction. When the honeycomb structure is divided into two portions by a plane in parallel with either one of end faces in the longitudinal direction of the honeycomb structure so that apparent volumes of the respective two portions become equal to each other, the respective two portions have apparent densities different from each other.

  • Publication number: 20080276586
Abstract: A honeycomb filter includes a honeycomb body including first and second cells extending along its longitudinal direction. The first cells have upstream opening ends and downstream closing ends opposite to the upstream opening ends along the longitudinal direction. The second cells have upstream closed ends and downstream opening ends opposite to the upstream closed ends along the longitudinal direction. The honeycomb body further includes cell walls intervening between the first cells and the second cells to define the first cells and second cells and extending between the upstream opening ends and the downstream closing ends and between the upstream closed ends and the downstream opening ends. A porosity of the cell walls is about 75% to about 95%. Ceramic particles are provided in the cell wall. A concentration of the ceramic particles in the wall decreases from the first cells to the second cells.
