Abstract: A cell culture container includes: an insert member having a membrane on which a cell is seeded, the insert member defining a first inner space that functions as an anaerobic chamber; a container having an attachment/detachment portion to and from which the insert member is attachable and detachable, the container defining a second inner space that functions as an aerobic chamber; a sealing member that closes an opening of the aerobic chamber between the attachment/detachment portion and the insert member with the insert member being attached to the attachment/detachment portion; and a transfer mechanism that transfers force to the sealing member. The sealing member closes the opening in response to an input of the force from the transfer mechanism.

Abstract: A measuring apparatus having a frequency-swept heterodyne-type frequency converter equipped with a frequency-swept signal source and a multiplier includes means for detecting the timing of reference burst signals that have been subjected to frequency conversion by the frequency converter, with the frequency of the output signals of the frequency-swept signal source locked; means for generating periodic pulse signals; and means for adjusting the phase relationship between the pulse signals and the reference burst signals using the detected timing; and means for sweeping the frequency of the output signals of the frequency-swept signal source using pulse signals that have been subjected to a phase relationship adjustment.

Abstract: A thread cutting device is provided in a sewing machine that is operable to form stitches on a fabric using an upper thread and a lower thread. The thread cutting device may include a fixed knife and a movable knife cooperating with each other to cut either one or both of the upper and lower threads. The movable knife may be operable to cut the upper thread at a first timing and to cut the lower thread at a second timing that is different from the first timing.
