  • Patent number: 12073080
Abstract: Deterioration of compression throughput including a decompression check after data compression is suppressed. Provided is a storage system including an interface and a controller. The controller includes a compression circuit configured to generate compressed data by compressing received data received via the interface; and a decompression circuit configured to decompress the compressed data before storing the compressed data in a storage drive to confirm data consistency. The compression circuit sequentially executes a compression task of the received data, sequentially generates packets of the compressed data, and transfers the packets to the decompression circuit. The decompression circuit decompresses the received packet in parallel with the compression task.

  • Patent number: 8271559
Abstract: Data migration is efficiently executed with optional timing. A file server outputs an instruction to a CPU of a storage apparatus to migrate a file belonging to Tier 1 to Tier 2 when, based on policy information, a condition for migrating the file belonging to Tier 1 to Tier 2 is fulfilled. Based on the instruction from the file server, the CPU copies the data of migration target files in Tier 1 from a page to a Tier 1 virtual page, copies the data which has been copied to the Tier 1 virtual page 114 to a Tier 2 virtual page, copies the data which has been copied to the Tier 2 virtual page to any page in Tier 2, and then overwrites and releases the Tier 1 and Tier 2 virtual pages, and migrates files belonging to Tier 1 to Tier 2.

  • Patent number: 7908510
Abstract: The present invention detects patterns that conform to the user conditions in cases where a disaster recovery constitution is constructed by connecting a plurality of sites. The design system is used in cases where the disaster recovery constitution is provided in a storage system. The site information acquisition section acquires information relating to the constitution in the sites and information relating to the connections between the sites, and stores the information in the site information table. The candidate pattern generation section generates candidate patterns for each of the parameters on the basis of the site information table and a basic pattern table. The candidate pattern evaluation section evaluates the respective candidate patterns by using the user condition table and presents patterns which conform to the user conditions to the user. The document output section generates a construction procedure and operating procedure on the basis of patterns selected by the user.

  • Patent number: 7865767
Abstract: A storage system of the present invention carries out remote copying among a plurality of sites, detects a new copy path when a failure occurs, and resumes remote copying. The storage system comprises a plurality of sites. Each site comprises a host and a storage controller. The controller of each site comprises a copy controller, a failure detector, a candidate detector, and a resume controller. The failure detector detects a failure that occurs in a remote copy configuration. The candidate detector detects a candidate for a copy path. The resume controller resumes remote copying using any one copy path from among copy path candidates detected in the respective sites.

  • Patent number: 7475131
Abstract: A method for displaying an access path between a virtual volume of a storage controller that has an external storage connecting function, and an external volume of an external storage system. By this method, port connection information about an access path defined between the virtual volume and the external volume is collected. A first network address for identifying an access port of the storage controller on the access path is collected. Also, a second network address for identifying an access port of the external storage system on the access path is collected. Moreover, identification information for identifying the external volume is collected. Finally, the network topology between the virtual volume and the external volume is displayed based on the port connection information, the first network address, the second network address, and the identification information.

  • Patent number: 5570831
Abstract: A tape guide device having apertures formed in two tape-winding surfaces of non-rotatable curvature portions. A tape restriction is provided at a connecting portion of the tape guide device interconnecting the curvature portions. A flange is provided on one of the curvature portions for movement along an axis thereof to adjust the height thereof. The flange has an outer diameter greater than that of the one curvature portion. The curvature portions are integrated with each other. According this, an air film is generated between the tape and the tape-winding surfaces by discharging air from the apertures, thereby reducing the friction coefficient between the tape and the tape-winding surfaces to suppress the increase of tape tension. The tape is restricted to fluctuate in the direction of width. Further, the attitude and relative positioning between the curvature portions can be secured with high precision.
