  • Patent number: 5498592
Abstract: Described are Drechslera monoceras var. microsporus strains, that is, new microorganism strains which show herbicidal effects against all varieties of barnyard grass, i.e., Echinochloa spp. as weed even at temperatures as low as 15.degree. C. but does not give any influence to cultivation crops such as rice; weed control compositions against barnyard grass, said compositions each containing one of the microorganism strains as an effective ingredient and having high safety and selectivity; and a barnyard grass control method employing at least one of the microorganism strains. Combined use of at least one of the microorganism strains with a chemical herbicide makes it possible to substantially reduce their dosages compared with those required when they are singly applied.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 31, 1995
Date of Patent: March 12, 1996
    Assignee: Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Incorporated
Inventors: Masatoshi Gohbara, Kenichi Yamaguchi, Tatsuo Shinmi, Emi Shinmi, Kazunori Takanaka, Tomoko Hiruta
